This guy was on coast to coast yesterday. He is a practicing lawyer who also is a medium/psychic. I don't remember hearing of this guy before. Here is his site:

http://www.healgriefwithbelief.com/

And he has a wikipedia entry, which as of the time of this post, needs some serious work from a good wikipedia editor:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Anthony_(psychic)

I find it strange that a person would be allowed to be a practicing lawyer while also claiming to be able to communicate with the dead. On the radio show he told numerous stories about speaking to spirits and how nobody is ever alone because each of us has 50-60 spirits surrounding us at all times. He also said how he will get clients from his law practice find out he is a medium and then utilize his psychic services as well.

It seems to me like there is potential for abuse here when a lawyer is also acting in this role. Normally there are limits to the type of relationships that lawyers can have with clients. It appears this person practices in Florida and I wonder why the Florida bar would allow something like this. I'm not saying that Mark Anthony is doing this, but being both lawyer and psychic would certainly put someone in a good position to rip off vulnerable people even more than the typical lawyer or psychic would.

All I can say is that the 50-60 spirits surrounding me must be very bored.

What a ghastly concept of an afterlife: crowding around the living, presumably unable to interact with them or the world in any way.

Well according to Mark Anthony they can interact with the living when they want to.

He used an analogy on the show to an FM radio dial. The living operate on a low frequency, while the dead are on a much higher frequency. The dead however, can lower their frequency when the want in order to communicate with the living. Psychic mediums have learned to raise their frequency so they can meet the dead spirits halfway so to speak. This also happens spontaneously sometimes like alpha waves before you fall asleep can raise your frequency and you could have a contact experience.

So that's how he described it.

I'm concerned with why he allowed to do this while also being a practicing lawyer. Are they any posters here who are Florida lawyers? I am interested in knowing what the Florida bar has to say about the guy but I can't really make a complaint to them because I'm not from Florida and therefore have no basis for a complaint.

He seems to genuinely believe what he says. The interesting question to me is "why does he believe this?"

Oh My Gowd.

Does anybody believe this ****
Oh yeah. When I hung out with woosters, there were plenty who believed in their ever-present spirit guides.

Religiousity I guess. There's little difference between this and believing in the Christian concept of angels watching over you at night. Personally, I grew out of that at about 5 years old. Why adults still believe in their imaginary friends to make them feel secure beats me.

So, if everyone is surrounded by 50 to 60 "spirits"... let's low ball it and say 50. Assuming these spirits are dead humans... that would be roughly 350 Billion dead people here at any given point in time. I'm not a statistician, but isn't that more dead people than have ever been alive in history? More human spirits than humans in the entire history of our race?

Nope, because they don't necessarily have to be humans from planet Erf. I had a woo-friend whose spirit guides were Pleiadians. :D

I shall use my psychic ability to see if you can win this case, but only if you pay me first.

Yes, in fact, there are more people alive today than have previously been born and died.

So you would only get around 0.42 spirits per live person.

This should revolutionize trial protocol..."Mr. Jones, would you point to the individual who killed you? Thank you. Will the court note for the record that the ghost of the victim is pointing at the defendant....."

And now tell us in your own words..........
Yup. I can see that happening
And the cross examination

I never understood these anglizations of names.

What's wrong with Marcus Antonius?

... Oh, THAT Mark Anthony.

Well, spirit channeling of dead people is a major plot point in the Gyakuten Saiban* series. Though it's usually a channeling of your mentor giving you advice - channeling of a murderer or victim only happens once on-screen in the series.

*Literally Comeback Court or Turnabout Trials. Marketed in the West as "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney" plus sequels with other characters.
