Officer Dave Capron of the Buchanan Police Department said his interview with Renier was the only time the Police Department has ever consulted a psychic.

"The family paid for the psychic," Capron said.

"Whether it turns up anything, we don't know at this point," he said.

Before Capron and the sheriff's detective talked with Renier, they consulted other police departments that used Renier in missing person cases.

Police in Cass County used Renier to help investigate a crime there, Capron said.

"The psychic doesn't solve the crime but gives police information to fit into the puzzle and solve the mystery," Capron said.

For instance with the snake image, Capron said Renier isn't sure if it means an actual snake, a river, or if it's simply the letter "s" she is envisioning.

Also Renier gave police some numbers, but Capron said they don't know if the numbers reflect addresses, highway exit signs or something else.

That has to be some of the most open-ended "clues" I have ever seen. Gee, NUMBERS?? Something with the letter "S"?? How can Renier fail??

Apparently the family sent Renier some of Bowen's personal belongings to help the psychic read clues.

"It's been very hard," said Bowen's mother, Vhaness McGuirt. "I can say by the grace of God, that's what holds me up and sustains me."

Lately McGuirt has been buoyed by the possibility of Renier's offering clues.

"It think it was productive," McGuirt said. "The psychic didn't go into details but she knew information about Marquette that only the family knew."

"I'm hopeful. I'm looking for closure," said McGuirt. "But you can't have doubts when you're dealing with a case like this."

This shows how powerful a grip psychics have over their victims.

Too many people should not be involved in the case because it may interfere with Renier's work, she said.

"Too many people can't get involved because it may disturb the spirit," she said.

This is great news, if a crime has been committed. Great news for the criminal, that is. Imagine having a psychic telling the police and public not to look so hard?

Let's keep an eye out on this one.

I think in the context she meant other would-be-helpful-psychics should keep away. This is actually kinda clever.

The police, instead of needing to fend off dozens of greedy psychics calling in, can tell them they already have one on call and to go away.

Sample Police Draft Memo:
Dear Psychic "username",

Thank you for your offer of help but we already have a psychic meeting our current needs. Professional advice includes a warning that using additional psychics could confuse or disturb the spirits and possibly prevent success.

In appreciation, we would like to extend an offer for a 10% discount on her new book that can be purchased from "Amazon Books linky"
