My developmental psychology text book contains the following. When defining maximum life span (some of the kids couldn't quite get it...) it has a parenthetical aside stating, "the biblical Methuselah's age, 969, was probably measured in "years" that had fewer days."
The book has no other passages like that. I found it quite odd, to say the least.
 
Strange.

My guess would be that he's fed up with Creationists disputing his scientific ideas regarding lifespan and maximum ages by quoting from the Bible. "Ah, but Professor, how can you square your new research with what Genesis quite clearly states...?" :(
