Beyond that, since the fellow says he will no longer discuss it with me, perhaps someone else can chime in and get more info from him.

Basically, he represents a UK parapsy research group proposing an experiment about hypnosis enhancing anomalous cognition. (though he won't admit that that's what they're doing).

He came looking for participants.

Among other things, I suggested he get a professional magician to advise on devising the experiment and that he might get a volunteer from JREF to do so.

He is refusing to come looking for a magician to help, and even denying they need a magician's help.

There are other problems, too, though, as you may have guessed.

I think he's just trying to organise a little fun gathering under the pretense it is an experiment.

It does not appear to be a proper experiment in any plausible real sense of the word judging by the posters manner but who knows.

Seems typical, and you did a nice job of providing clear, objective concerns. Which, of course, were rejected and ultimately, you were perceived as insulting them. (Also typical from other threads I've read.)

I'm guessing he's not affiliated with any universities.
