I just want to point out that anyone who says that drugs should be illegal, or gambling, or prostitution, is a socialist.

For example: Nancy and Ronald Reagan are socialists.

Drugs are just another kind of deep dish pizza.
Prostitution is just another kind of ice cream.
Gambling is just another kind of buffalo wings.

And when you get right down to it, jailing someone for possession is really the same thing as bowing to a foreign dignitary.

(Am I doing this right?)

No, I'm being serious. You aren't.

Hint: I'm not saying socialism is objectively bad.

The thread is possibly a most ingenious effort to prove to conservative folks that they are socialist so that they will embrace welfare and big state redistribution. I am sure it totally worked.

Is someone distributing big states? If so, I'd like Alaska. It's the biggest, therefore it must be the best, and I'm sure I can sell it for profit. Also I hear it has bears in it, and I have a need for enormous quantities of bears for a project I'm working on.

You should have said something earlier. I just unloaded seventy eleven jillion bears on eBay. They were mostly dead though. Or counterfeit. Some of them were actually paper plates with bears on them.

Okay, I had to think about it a while but I think I see your point.

First Lady X says we should refrain from Y. That's government telling us what to do (aka straw-man socialism).

Am I on the right track now?

Nope. Just pointing out the hypocrisy when tea party types say that Michelle Obama is a socialist tyrant for her anti-obesity efforts (none of which are nearly as coercive as police-enforced prohibition).

Yeah, that's about right. Another way to put it is that socialism is when you say that sometimes the common good is more important than individual freedom.

"Anti obesity" policies aren't socialism either. Paternalism and authoritarianism are not socialism.

Not a very good way to put it either. You are placing political positions on a single dimension. Try multi-axis models. They're the new black.
According to Glenn Beck it is.
It still isn't though. You're doing a good job of writing nonsense and a poor job of exposing hypicrisy IMO.

Btw, I'd just like to point out that anyone who opposes the right to keep loaded guns inside one's home is a Nazi.

This thread is fun! :p

Hmm... saying that the common good is more important than individual freedom is collectivism, not socialism.

But saying that one or the other must be supreme always is a false dichotomy. America has laws and communities. That means there's some collectivism. It's not a dirty word, it's just a question of how much vs. individualism. I totally understand preferring the balance to be on the individualism side.

Oh, I should stay on topic.

Anyone who wants to repeal a law is an anarchist.
