Did anyone else have trouble with the online registration for TAM5?

I have filled out the damned form to pay for my registration three separate times now.

The first time, it evidently did not accept my credit card payment, but I didn't notice until Linda emailed me about it later.

Linda has now told me I should contact the credit card company. I will, but expect the problem is with the web site, not the credit card company. I use this credit card all the time with no problem, both on and off the web. There are more than sufficient funds in the account to cover the charge.

Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

I didn't get an email response right away...but Linda sent me an email that it was fixed and should be OK now. However...in the past when I have had such an issue, it would usually due to cookies. Either had to delete and old cookie off my computer or change permissions to accept the site's cookies.

Well, I finally found out what the problem is.

This morning, I got emails from a couple of online services saying that the automatic charge they hit me with every month was rejected by the bank.

I called the bank, and (after 45 minutes) was told that they had determined that my card had been "compromised," and had put a block on it.

When I asked how they had decided it had been "compromised," they told me that they didn't know for sure, but that typically it happens when a vendor reports that their database or records has been hacked or stolen. All cards known to have been in that database are automatically deemed "compromised," and all are blocked.

Would have been nice if they had contacted me...

And they couldn't explain why I had still been able to use the card at many places in the past few weeks.

This also means that I use take Jas's suggestion, as the card itself is now defunct.

So now I am waiting for my new card to arrive (in about a week), at which point I can register for TAM.

When my card was compromised, they actually called my bank, who put the call through to my cell phone right away. So it was kinda odd driving on the way to work, and having someone I didn't know ask "where are you right now?"

So after he'd rephrased his question and I'd confirmed that indeed, I wasn't in China but driving to work, they blocked my card and cancelled all the suspicious charges.

Not so nice of them to not let you know what had happened though.
