There are three big elections today that will inevitably be termed a referendum on Obama and the Democrats, although of course that's something of a stretch. The elections are for Virginia Governor, New Jersey Governor, and a special election for New York's 23rd congressional district.
What are your predictions? Mine are as follows:
VA Governor: Easy Republican win. Since Obama carried Virginia last year, this will be perceived as a U-turn. However, it is certainly arguable that the Democratic candidate, Creigh Deeds, has run a poor race. Indeed, Obama aides have been grumbling this for several weeks now.
NJ Governor: Squeaker Republican win. Jon Corzine is extremely unpopular in the Garden State, but he's gone very negative on his challenger, Chris Christie, and he does have a powerful machine to get out the vote. We may not know the answer to this one until tomorrow afternoon.
NY-23. Easy Conservative Win. Hoffman's got all the momentum in this race.
