I know there´s quite a few people here who are fans of Terry Pratchett.

If there are any of you who also do roleplaying games, I might have something for you. I´m about to start a freeform Discworld play-by-post game at the roleplaying forum www.rpol.net. Players are going to take the role of new recruits to the Ank Morpork City Watch; the game is set at an undetermined point after the conclusion of Men At Arms.

This is what you´d need to do to join:

Register at rpol.net, NOT using your intended character name, but a generic account name. Using the same name as here is convenient but not necessary.

Then, while logged in,
either click the Browse Games link and search for the keyword "Discworld"; my game is called "Discworld: Watch This!" (no, I´m not Sir Terry´s equal in wordplay... so what?),
or you wait until I put up a message advertising the game in the Players Wanted subforum, and use the link provided there to get to the game.

Either way, you can look around, see if you like it, and if you do, click the Request Access link. Check the "RTJ" (that´s "Request To Join") thread for what kind of information I´d like to see about your character. I´d also appreciate if you´d let me know which of the posters here you are, assuming you don´t use your JREF forum name.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Hmm, so if it's just after "Men at Arms" that means trolls, dwarves, humans, and possibly gnomes but no vampires or golems. Are zombies and gargoyles allowed?

You might see me over there at some point. Discworld and role-playing games - freeform or otherwise - are two of my greatest obsessions. I'll probably be using the name "Foolamancer" or some such. I'll PM you if I join.

Anything is allowed. We´ll play at the earliest possible point that allows anything player want to play. Discworld as a setting seeming pretty forgiving towards this sort of rubber band chronology.

"Men at Arms" is the earliest point, because before the end of that novel, the Watch consists only of Vimes, Colon, Nobby, Carrot, Detritus and Angua. The big expansion begins afterwards.

Oh man, I wish I wasn't so busy. My life is so chaotic PLUS I'm addicted to the Discworld MUD right now, and even that is only played once a week for about an hour. Le sigh.

It probably wouldn´t take much time... plus such games take place all around the week, not at fixed times.

The game is set up, and players are signing up. So far we have a mummy, a young Fourecksian, a witch, a Nac Mac Feegle and a member of the extended Nobbs clan.
