Podcasting, which takes the Net into the street, may do to radio what the blog has done to print journalism.

Do you own an iPod ?

ipodder.org

(not being an expert, I'm not sure if other types of mp3 players other than apple's are able to utilize the RSS protocol -- anyone know the answer?)

I found the original prototype podcast to be interesting:
"From Studio 8A" ( it was created in the front seat of the guy's Audi A8 on the road! )

Here's another interresting article about podcasting:
For a Start-Up, Visions of Profit in Podcasting

Any computer connected to the internet can use RSS protocol to subscribe to the mp3 feeds, and any mp3 player can play the podcasts.

Thanks for posting that.

Something called Sirius wants to play some of my music via 'podcasting', and I didn't really want to buy an Ipod at the moment to listen.

Any mp3 player or even just a computer can 'podcast'. It just means automatically downloading what used to be radio shows. Right now i podcast CBC's Quirks and Quarks. (a weekly science show many of you would find interesting)

You may need iTunes software (free). But a warning for those who have small download limits like me. I downloaded 2 hours worth and I downloaded 80 MB or so.
