I have recently read about how BPMS (Business Process Management Systems) have to be based on 'pi calculus' (it was in a paper published by the BPMI). I am a bit skeptical, especially because the concept seemed to complicate the issue (of BPM) whilst claiming to be the way to make it easier.

I did not see anything compelling in the paper that would make me think that pi-calculus per se allowed for better / more functional / easier to create business processes versus a BPM tool that was not explicitly based on pi calculus.
