Peter Hain MP recommends homeopathy in lieu of malaria preventions and vaccination!

In an interview with the British Homeopathic Association this month he made this murderously irresponsible statement, "I have used [homeopathy] when travelling as a government minister to countries with a severe malaria problem in place of vaccinations or prophylaxis". He also thinks homeopathy should be paid for by the NHS since it 'cured' his child's exsema (obviously the exclusion diet had nothing to do with it).

Although the BHA have inserted a weaselly disclaimer at the bottom of the piece they still saw fit to publish it - idiots

I can understand people resorting to alternative medicine if regular medicine just can't help them. But IMHO rejecting regular medicine in favour of alternative medicine is the sort of thing that kills people. Maybe other people. So I don't think it's a good thing to advocate it in any way.

But who recommends Peter Hain MP.
However:
He is a member of the Advisory Council for the College of Medicine, an alternative medicine lobbying organisation set up following the disbanding of Charles, Prince of Wales' Foundation for Integrated Health in the wake of a fraud investigation. Describing its mission as "to take forward the vision of HRH the Prince of Wales" and originally called "The College of Integrated Health," several commentators, writing in The Guardian, The British Medical Journal and in the blogosphere, claim that this organisation is simply a re-branding of the controversial Foundation. It continues to act as an alternative medicine lobby group. The College has been referred to as "Hamlet without the Prince."
He was also the first minister in Gordon Brown's cabinet to resign over funding issues; his campaign failed to declare £103,156 of donations, contrary to electoral law.

Interestingly, in 1976 he was tried for robbing a bank solely on eye-witness evidence and acquitted

... in 1976 he was tried for robbing a bank solely on eye-witness evidence and acquitted
So it sounds like he was acquitted because the legal system recognises the unreliability of anecdotal evidence - how deliciously ironic!

'Describing its mission as "to take forward the vision of HRH the Prince of Wales" '

Couldn't get past this bit to be honest.

AFAIK the bank robbery was a set up by BOSS, a South African government organisation. But I have no idea if he had any real dealings with rebel movements at that time.

In North Wales he still known as 'slime ball' from his days as Secretary for Wales. He rarely says anything except for personal advantage so perhaps he wants to get in with Charlie. The homeopaths in Wales probably don't think it's such a great idea to publicise any link to him. :)

It reflects badly on the people of Neath that they elected this guy to represent them.

I think they elected a pig's bladder on a stick. That it happened to be Peter Hain is just an unfortunate coincidence.

That includes my grandparents.

The unfortunate fact is that Hain has been a good MP for them for years, and the only reasonable alternative they have is the Plaid numpty nominee
