The widow of slain US reporter Daniel Pearl has been denied compensation from a government fund for relatives of the victims of the 11 September attacks.
The US justice department said the fund was only for victims of the 2001 attacks in New York and Washington.

I dont see why Pearl should be included. He was working as a journalist over in Pakistan!!

I feel bad about the lives lost in 911 but theres a part of me that gets annoyed when I read stories about everyone wanting a piece of the 911 pie.

The average payout is like $1.4 million!!! Thats govt money, not to mention the all the donated funds. Its like hitting the damn lottery.. Whats worse is when people complain its not enough!!

For once I agree with you. Pearl knew the dangers, people showing up to work in an office on 9/11 didn't. His murder is a tragedy, yes, but hardly unforseeable.

I wonder why she was even pursuing compensation from this fund. I feel that some shyster lawyer (the ones with those TV commercials) probably suggested that she go after some of the 911 fund. After all, she has nothing to lose, especially if the lawyer did it on contigency.
