PBS is airing a special called "Crashing the Parties 2004" sometime the 29th or 30th (check local listings). They'll be covering the candidates who have been excluded from the debates: Nader, Cobb, Badnarik, and Peroutka.

For me, this will be my first look at Peroutka, the Constitution Party candidate (not that I actually get to vote for him...). Should be interesting.

You can't beat PBS for good TV entertainment here in the US. For as much as the right-wingnuts claim it's a liberal media outlet, I've always found PBS to be truly "fair and balanced (r)"

On Friday, on "Week in Washington", there was an interesting interview with the author (I'm blanking on his name), who wrote about how lame the presidential debates have become. Basically the debates will be a scripted beauty pageant for Dems and Repubs only. It'll be like watching a car race and hoping for a crash which probably won't happen.

I have to admit, they do a good job for the most part. But, like most of the major media, they hardly do anything devoted to skeptical subjects. Fortunately, The Discovery Channel is doing a few of those.

Our local PBS network, UNC-TV, on the other hand, is broadcasting a US Senate debate tonight without Tom Bailey, the Libertarian candidate. He had a great quote about the situation: "I love seeing my tax dollars going to promote my opponents' ideas."

Why are they excluding the dozens, if not hundreds, of other candidates who are running for president? That is not fair. I'm suprised you support the exclusion of third party candidates.
