The baby's condition, he said, "looked like something you might see in a National Geographic magazine, in an African country or a Third World country," Brown testified as the nine-person jury was shown enlarged pictures of Woyah.

Prosecutors say the Andressohns starved the baby to death by feeding her a diet of wheat grass, coconut water and almond milk. The couple is also charged with neglect in the treatment and feeding of their other four children, who have been living with a relative under state supervision

This was on the news last night. How awful.

Yahshawah testified that he loved his "new" mother, who feeds him his favorite meals of tacos and roasted potatoes, in stark contrast to his biological parents' "living foods" vegan diet of raw vegetables, fruits and wheatgrass.

The third-grade student testified that the meals often left him hungry, but said he did not complain to his parents for fear of punishment.

He grew quiet as questioning turned to his dead sister, who weighed less than seven pounds when paramedics found her in respiratory arrest at the Andressohn home.

A few weeks later, a medical examiner classified the cause of death as "accidental malnutrition," due to insufficient diet.

These people are walrusing walrustards. How dumb (and self-centered) do you have to be to think that your baby needs to be on a raw food diet. And hello? Breast milk is the original raw food.

There's also a bit on how the baby had congenital problems as well. Apparently the parents had something against MDs and didn't take their baby in for any checkups that would have helped in a diagnosis. The baby was starving and in need of medical care.

I think I still have a link on a chiro that put his baby on a similar diet, with the same consequences.

Eliana was born on July 8, 2000. She died of malnutrition on December 26 that year. Her parents had tried for years to conceive their first and only child. After a month of breast feeding, Mrs Diskin started supplementing the breast feeding with rice milk. Mr Diskin, a 44-year-old chiropractor, and his wife, 39, are both adherents to forms of alternative medicine.
After three months, Mrs Diskin ceased breast feeding and Eliana was fed exclusively rice milk.
