Global warming, rain forest depletion, over fishing, energy-crisis, water shortage, food shortage, etc.

They're fundamentally caused by overpopulation.

when will the world wake up and face this fact?

When, like other animals, large portions of the human population die off due to resource depletion?

(Is this a science question, really? I would consider it more of a social issue...)

Well if your talking about the current human generation, then maybe never for us. We might be long gone when the effects of humanity's stupidity cause mayhem.

Or, if we play our cards right, mankind can possibly find a solution for these environmental crises.

....

Who are we kidding, were doomed. :D

They are not caused by overpopulation, they are caused by the thoughtless over-indulgence of a small proportion of global population.

so you agree, but think that if you peronally can súrvive fine, it is ok to behave as you do?

Of course they are caused by overpopulation. No overpopulation, no global warming, no loss of habitats for our fellow creatures, no over-fishing, etc.

No. No it's not.

Where is that picture of the guy's head on fire when I need it? Come on. For a skeptics message board can you try and put up an argument that doesn't take five seconds to realize how wrong it is.

Do you disgree with my presumption?
Yes. I happen to think that your presumption is fatalistic and a vast over-generalization -- one that lumps human beings (who have infinitely more control over their own environment than anything else on the planet) in with every other sort of animal -- which is why I responded the way I did.

These things you mention are not a result of over-population. They are a result of the prevailing ignorance, arrogance, and negligence of our modern society. Thus, a societal issue.

These things I mention are clearly the result of overpopulation.

Why do you feel this is not the case?
Skeptichick said it best. The earth isn't overpopulated. There is just enough people doing things moronically that it happens to be a problem.

No. No they aren't. Deforestation of the rainforest's are primarily the stupidity of people who utilize slash and burn technique of farming. Moronic, idiotic, and something we learned a thousand years ago how to do better. The water shortage issue is a combination of problems that have nothing to do with overpopulation. Part of it was the damming. Part of it was more moronically stupid farming techniques. Part of it was the stupidity of building a city in the middle of a desert.

There would be no Global warming, no loss of habitat, no clearing of the rain forest, no over fishing, no problem, if there wasnt overpopultion.

Are you really that naive or dumb?

Attack the argument, not the arguer, please.

I'm not in the mood for dealing with recalcitrance tonight, so I'll leave you with this:

You made a claim (that global warming, etc. are the result of overpopulation). As such, the burden of proof is on you to offer up evidence to support that claim (and one word responses are not evidence).
