Our Lord Hank

I think this gets posted once every quarter.

I swear, we should just pin it somewhere close at hand.

I'm lazy, haven't clicked the link - does that take you to the video clip?

Hey, Uppy, some of us would rather not register at RR - would you mind at least summarizing the linked page, please? Thank Hank.

I tried to find the thread manually. I failed, and now I feel all icky. I think I'll go have a shower.

If I registered and started a thread simply stating "Convert me, I dare ya..." would I be kicked off?

Oh, right. sorry.

The thread starts with this:

does it say that it is the Word of God?

Why is it so difficult to understand? X has his interpretation, Y has hers, Z thinks it says something different.

Why didn't God make it clearer?

Which is then followed by the story of Hank (which I have snipped as redundant).

My favorite reaction is the very first reply:

I got halfway through your post and couldn't even finish because the scenario is so far fetched. I can totally understand how someone on the outside with no understanding of Christianity could misrepresent it (and God) by writing something like this, but it only shows a lack of education of what Christianity is and ignorance.

Total misrepresentation. That's all I have to say about that.

To their credit, there are a few posters who point out that there is some ambiguity to the Bible and that it is easy to understand how different people come to different conclusions.

There are also those (ok, one) poster(s) who pull out the Bible versus to prove that the Bible is the word of God.

You might get away with posting it in the apologetics forum, but it's unlikely. Should you succed, you could be able to survive by never posting again. Otherwise, it's only a matter of time before you breach some weird unspoken rule they have which gets you thrown out.

Like "argue from the basis of the existance of God, even for the existance of God"? I'm not surprised.

Strange. I've registered, but never posted there.

More than likely. From their Forums Rules:

RR Forums Rules
Subdermal Irritants: This is a private, moderated, Christian message board. We welcome people of all faiths to post here, but there always seem to be those select few who join solely for the purpose of mocking the faith of the members of the board or otherwise stirring up trouble for the sake of stirring up trouble. If this describes your motivation for joining, save both yourself and us the time and trouble and go elsewhere. We will not tolerate the mocking of our board, our members, our faith, and most importantly, our Lord. We welcome the discussion of matters of our faith by those who do not share our faith, but ask that they remain in the Apologetics forum which was created for that purpose.

Personally, I like there "No selling" rule examples: "Things like: drugs, military secrets, nuclear components, and human souls are definitely frowned on. When buying anything, you need to know and trust the person you're dealing with." Showing a half-way decent sense of humor.

The one I broke was "Don't call Christians a majority in America."
