Are you a Postmodernist?
Test yourself to see if you are a postmodern progressive liberal:
Okay...
1. Do you redefine actual reality? (Reality is defined as something that is outside and independent of one’s subjective experience...[snip]).
No. In fact, I mock those who do.
2. Do feelings direct your decisions more than actual reality?
Not lately, no.
3. Do you redefine words to fit your agenda?
Not without making the working definitions available, at least.
4. Do you accuse others of hatred, bigotry, racism, being judgmental, and warmongering because they have an opinion that makes you FEEEELLLLL uncomfortable?
No, I only make such accusations where appropriate. (Unlike certain bloggers I have run into, of late.)
5. Do you demand: everyone be inclusive and understanding,...
Yes.
... have compassion on, and embrace, violent sex predators,...
No.
No.
... and other dangerous misfits who want to slit your throats ...
Well, no... I guess not if they are going to slit my throat.
... while you pretend to have compassion and understanding on others at taxpayers expense?
Not sure what that means.
Understanding and compassion is denied to those who believe in God, family, marriage between one man and one woman, and support for our Troops!
Not sure what that has to do with the question, either.
6. Is it hard for you to be quiet and not rage while others talk because you might have to actually listen and understand another person with a different viewpoint?
Not at all.
7. Do you absorb everything from your environment because you are afraid to work to think?
Not sure what "absorb everything from your environment" means. But, since I am not afraid to work, think, or work to think, I suspect it does not apply to me.
Thinking requires work and diligent classical didactic thinking skills instead of dialectical manipulative rationalization...
...and why does that sound oddly postmodern, to me?
8. Do you believe in the Creator or are you your own higher power?
False dichotomy. One could believe in a higher power that is neither your own self nor the Creator.
I, for one, like to think the general community serves as something like a higher power, rather than the individual. But, if you require an answer that is less vague, and points to one specific thing, then: I guess I would be my own higher power.
9. Do you believe your Rights are endowed by the________:
a. ACLU
No. Not directly. But they are pretty good at preserving the rights of others.
By law, they kinda do.
In general, there are certain rights associated with democracies, but it would be an exaggeration to say those rights are "endowed" by democracy, itself.
Why not?
Most likely... no.
10. Do you define liberty to be a sacred gift from the Creator accompanied by a solemn duty to protect that liberty by serving God and your fellow man, or do you define liberty as license to indulge in unrestrained moral dissipation?
False dichotomy. There are many more ways to define liberty than the two options provided. Neither of those fit my views of liberty very well, at all.
Liberty is synonymous with freedom, but with freedom comes responsibility. Everyone should be free to do (almost) whatever they want, as long as what they are doing does not infringe on the rights of other people.
If you answer “yes” to three or more questions then you are considered a progressive, postmodern sophist, and the consequence is a life of hypocrisy and existential meaninglessness, true loss of liberty, and cultural death...
Bummer.
