Canada, eh?
Just wondering... Part of my job is to maintain our Oracle databases. I'm quite happy using command-line tools; however, some of my coworkers wanted to know if there were some GUI tools to handle backups and restores.

I've been looking at various web sites, but I'd prefer to get a (hopefully) unbiased opinion here rather than reading some corporate advertising.

Note: We're in the process of upgrading to Oracle 11gR2, 64 bits under Windows.

Command line backup tools allow you to simply automate the scheduled backup of databases via a plethora of options. GUIs make it simpler for clueless newbies who know ◊◊◊◊ all about databases to FUBAR your backups. Seriously if they're not knowledgeable enough to put a wrapper around some CLI tools they shouldn't be allowed DBA privileges.
A good site is http://dba.stackexchange.com/

Well, they're not totally clueless... but database administration is not their primary task. (Technically its not my primary task either, but I'm the one with the most experience.) And if something goes down I may not always be around to restore the system.

Right now things are backed up regularly with both RMAN and exp. We've automated the backups (using bat files and sql scripts), but restoring the database does take a little effort (even with the scripts that have been written).
