Well, it was time to do something to improve my gaming performance and I'm nowhere near able to afford a new computer so it was new video card time.

I've got an aging AGP system so none of those shiny SLI Geforce or ATI Crossfire cards :( . Oh well, I'm on a budget anyway.

Enter the Radeon x1650 Pro which I picked up at newegg for $86.99 + UPS Ground shipping (Paid for 3 day delivery and got it in less than 24 hours ...)

In an hour I get to go home and install it.

Yay me!

I've got a 1650 in my office PC and a 1950 in my media PC in the living room. The dual out is great for serving multiple monitors. Not a gamer so I can't comment on that.

The only huge complaint I have about ATI is the amazingly complicated driver and software updates. Uninstall everything, and then reinstall everything.

Is Nvidia this complicated to update? Have I been torturing myself by sticking with ATI all along?

I've never had to uninstall old drivers with ATI.

Complete un-installation is their recommended method of upgrading. It is getting easier now. They usually have utility to do that, but it still requires a bunch of clicks and a couple of reboots.

Much better. I see you can enable the pixel shaders on the water now - that makes a huge difference.

What game is that, anyway?

The game is Lord of the Rings Online.

Also I made a typo in the screenshot post, the old card was a 9600SE, not a 9800

Well, cheers on your new card in any case, seems like a major upgrade over the old one.
