If you're going to criticize ideas, it helps to know a little bit about them beforehand. Socialism has nothing to do with redistribution, it's a political/economic system where the means of production are owned by workers and not private owners. Also, it's never been put into practice before.

Is socialism designed to benefit poor poker players?

Or maybe people who have lost a lot of weight and have yet to buy new clothes?
 
The Fabian Society have just been round saying I owe them 30 quids. If I don't pay, they'll send round the boys AND present me in an unflatterinfg light in one of their pamphlets.

I don't know which is worse.

Would somebody please explain to me how socialism and altruism are connected? I must have missed that particular lecture fifth form political science lecture.
 
The best revenge is to actually discuss the issue, is it JK? Writes more like latin!

Here is my take, it is only in the post agrarian societies where this altruism is not the norm. Does AW.C actually think that most people built thier houses and barns by themselves.

Cooperation between humans is the norm, not the exception.

He also forgets that capitalism, it involves a fair amount of taking and using advantage to take.

WELL said.

We look so hard for what is bad and wrong we fail to see what is good and right.

The fact is all living things seek to be free from suffering to be happy and life.

If we can see this and respect this, see we are all interconnected and interdependent, see that actions against others good or bad will effect us in the same way at some time.


I just say your other post as to “morals” .

As Buddhist we have the 5 basic precepts. These are precepts/ guidelines. They are not “sins” we do not believe in sins. These 5 say to “seek to avoid” doing the following.

1- seek to avoid taking the life of another.
2- seek to avoid taking what is not given.
3- seek to avoid saying what is not true, gossip words that cause suffering.
4- seek to avoid sexual misconduct. Sexual activity that will cause you or the other suffering in anyway.
5- seek to avoid taking drugs or drink that lead to a state on not clear thinking.



“morals” as seen by a Buddhist should be to have loving kindness, respect and compassion for oneself and all living things.

Just what I believe
