Oh no, OPEC needs financial aid

Ok, I saw this in the news, and was a little stunned.

Delegates said that Saudi Arabia, the world's biggest oil exporter, wanted promises of aid if Kyoto spurs a shift to renewable energies like tidal, solar or wind energy at the expense of fossil fuels.

Ok, OPEC is an organization that
- Helps keep energy prices artificially high, thus causing the economies of industrialized countries to suffer

- contains many member countries which make no effort to diversify their own economies, even though they often obtain huge amounts of oil revenue

- contains many member countries which use their oil revenue to support terrorism

And we're supposed to feel sorry for them if they loose their cash-cow oil revenue?
