It's true!

Up-the-duff sheilas (pregnant women) can now not just use the "I'm stupid 'coz I'm pregnant" old wives tale; they can claim some scientific authenticity.

Only a small sample, but unless you've never known a pregnant woman, little confirmation was needed.

Coming on top of thoughts that stress during pregnancy makes your kids dumber, it must be time we resorted to the Aldous Huxley method and just do away with women as reproductive vessels.

(Ok, memory loss isn't "stupid" but it makes itself apparent as stupidity; unless you think going to work in your slippers is forgetful rather than stupid. Not being able to see your feet is an inadequate excuse.)
 
Sleep deprivation. Any mom can tell you that one. I see the article noted the results of the change in hours of sleep wasn't yet available.
 
Have you seen some of the junk they try to sell to pregnant women these days? They're relying on pregnancy forcing down the IQs of the afflicted.

Do pregnant women suffer from sleep deprivation?
I didn't know that.. but I haven't been round one at night time. I'd have assumed they would sleep more than normal women; ..as far as women can be normal, of course.

Well I know I did. My wife slept on her back when pregnant, and the snoring.......
 
I was going to say that the stupid only manifested itself when the kid was born, but thought better of it.
 
Personally, I can't wait for saganite to come in here and do some serious ass-kicking :)
 
I would, but I've been feeling a bit sleep-deprived and I can't seem to remember where I stashed my ass-kicking boots.
 
Oh, yeah, I went to work in my slippers all the time when I was pregnant!

Nobody cared, though, since I was telecommuting, and worked from home.
 
The study said they controlled for sleep deprivation.

I'd be much more impressed if it were within persons.

Follow the same 90 women around before during and after pregnancy and show that memory declines then recovers.

Women are supposed to be better than men at these types of memory tests too so it's odd that performance would drop in pregnancy.

Temporary.

So far, the old sheila has managed to get brain back between pregnancies, although wanting more children could be indicative of long-term brain damage.
