Well, I just realized, through an accidental miss on copy paste, that firefox does a "I'm feeling lucky" google search on terms you enter in the address bar if they don't match an internet address (after doing a dictionary.com search, apparently).

That means if you type "Alkatran" into the firefox address bar you end up at my JREF profile!

I love this feature. It's great for finding a website whose name I know but whose URL I've forgotten. It saves 2 keystrokes (gg is my google quick link), one click and one page load.

Anything to streamline my browsing experience. ;)

It gets better. You can set up any search box on any page to run out of your firefox search bar. For instance, I can type "dict marzipan" in my firefox search bar and it will immediately go to the dictionary.com page for 'marzipan'.

Just go to the page that has the search box you'd like a shortcut for, right click it, and select "Add a keyword for this search". Give it a name and keyword ("Dictionary" and "dict" for my example) and your search bar will work for that from then on.

In addition to dictionary.com, I can currently do searches like these:
  • "imdb fargo" -- brings up the IMDB page for the movie Fargo.
  • "am jet" -- brings up the AllMusic guide page for the band Jet.
  • "w albert camus" -- brings up the wikipedia article on Albert Camus
  • "g soccer" -- does a google search on soccer
  • "lp djibouti" -- brings up the Lonely Planet article on Djibouti
The possibilities are endless. Fabulous feature, give it a go.

Cool. I knew about the dict one, but didn't realize it worked for others.
