Science seems to be clear that as long as there are sizeable numbers of people who are not vaccinated, Covid-19 will continue to mutate into more transmittable and more deadly variants.

That being the case, and more than 600,000 people dead in the USA, is it a selfish and irresponsible act to NOT be vaccinated if you have no health issue preventing vaccination?

I think it is. This is a team effort and you are LITERALLY part of the problem if you are not part of the solution. You're either on Team Vaccine or Team Covid-19.

Could the two choices be more ridiculously constrained ways of thought? I don't think so.

Cue the "Come back here coward. I demand you have a civil debate with me about why I'm morally obligated to not infect you with a deadly disease" trolls....

Is this really what the science seems to say?

I agree that as long as there are sizeable numbers of people who are not vaccinated Covid-19 will continue to mutate, but will necessarily mutate into more transmittable and more deadly variants?

I would add "Stupid" into the equation, but yes, there is no defense for not being vaccinated if vaccination is available.

It will continue to spread and isn't vanill aCovid bad neough>
Frankly, you are defending the Anii Vaxxers because you see them as allies for the support of Dear Leader. I suspect you also support racists for the same reason.

Excluding issues with availability or immune system compromise, or other actual problems with the vaccines, yes. Obviously.

I don't know about selfish. The purposely unvaccinated appear to be the people mostly burdened by hospitalizations and death. We don't often describe people having overdoses on illegal drugs as selfish.

You miss the point that the vaccines don't just protect people with health issues who can't get vaccinated and thus depend on herd immunity. They also protect the people who get vaccinated even when they are young and healthy. People who are young and healthy can also get sick, get long covid and even die.

Sacrificing your health and your life on the altar of Trumpism is stupid and unselfish, so I can't vote for any of your two options.

ETA: It is not a given that "Covid-19 will continue to mutate into more transmittable and more deadly variants" if people don't get vaccinated. ZeroCovid strategies existed before the vaccines and would have helped prevent the multitudes of variants. There is no New Zealand variant - at least not one I've heard of.

I think he is right that it won’t necessarily become worse. But vaccination is certainly likely to reduce that risk any further.

Unfortunately the right-wing particularly in the US has decided to instigate a program of misinformation and disinformation about vaccines and are now actively promoting vaccine refusal. Tucker Carlson, for example, is one of the absolute worst and he has been parading a long cast of cranks and political degenerates on his program.

I am pretty sure that many Republicans literally want more people to die of Covid so that they can blame Biden and one sure fire way of making more people did is to scare people into not getting vaccinated or to play up some idiotic version of libertarianism.

Anti-Vaxxers need to understand that their decisions have consequences upon society, including their neighbors & friends. If they think its all about harmless freedom, they will continue their way.

If they understand their choices may keep Covid going for years, rather than just dissapear, they may decide to get vaccinated.

But of course if they think its a NWO bio-weapon to put little chips in our bloodstream to morph our DNA, then nothing can help them.

Haha. Maybe I should have included a trigger warning with my post.

Anyways, after posting I decided to do a little quick research online. Turns out I'm 100% correct! If you're interested in following the science, that is.

Hopefully we will get final approval for the vaccines soon, so ONLY paranoia can justify refusing the vaccine (for most people).

So you're saying we should not get vaccinated, so more people will become infected and it will mutate into a less transmittable/less deadly variant?

Huh...

"COVID-19" is a mass psychosis that shows how deeply degenerated and corrupted the "Western" society is. If you look at even the official numbers with a focus on how they are created, it is clear since at least May 2020 that there is no killer virus around. All the social pressure and nudging will not get me to insert an experimental pharma cartel toxin into my body which has a healthy immune system.

Bugger off.
