I recently found that a couple of my friends have fallen for the arguments stating that the Apollo Moon landings were faked. I've directed them towards Bad Astronomy and collected a few bits of information from other varying sources but I am finding it difficult to find quantitative information regarding radiation from various sources as they would be on the surface of the moon and what insulation is required to defeat these sources.
I've found plenty of information on the Solar Wind, Van Allen Belt, non-Solar Cosmic Rays and Gamma Bursts, but can't seem to find anything to compare the levels as well as show how one keeps the radiation from affecting operation of equipment and operation of... erm... humans.
It is my understanding that the radiation found on the moon is fairly minimal though I can't find sources to cite to them. I did find on a Wiki, information stating that only a few milimeters of Aluminum would protect electronics under certain circumstances.
Any other sites I should check?
Help!
