Nostradamus may have predicted the outcome of the 2016 election. The seer refers to an epic battle between a "masculine woman" and an audacious bawler"....

That is on the HISTORY channel.

The result of such stupidity is that these asinine things become the reality for people who are under the impression that it's real. The History Channel only shows real history, they think.

Does this absurd ratings grab type thing make its way into a school?

You gotta give it to the man. He made such interesting vague predictions they're still stirring up interest centuries after his death and countless refutations of the validity of the claims :)

There are even two Solar eclipses this year! Ha! :)
(the same is true for 2017 and 2020-25).

Anyone even vaguely interested in the old astrologer should read James Randi's "Masks of Nostradamus".

Even back when the man was making money peddling his stuff to the locals, they complained about how obscure they were... And Randi shows clearly how all of his famous quatrains pertain to the events of the day, not the future.
Most all the subsequent twisting of the originals to fit current happenings has been done by mistranslations and misspellings that allow the use of made-up anagrams and such.

... and the fact that predicting most social events is as easy as getting old news and filing off the serial numbers.

History channel has been a bad joke for a number of years.
We have a couple of threads about it in the "History" section here.
 
My main concern is whether or not this ends up in schools. I used to watch History shows when they'd wheel out the old B&W tv with the VCR.

Fix the tracking....

He also was the world's first psychic moderator. Correctly interpreted, his quatrains identify every poster to be suspended or banned from JREF.

Unfortunately his interest in predicting moderator actions seems tied closely to his knowledge that James Randi would be writing a book about him. After JREF withdrew its connection to the forum Nostradamus lost interest in what the mods would and wouldn't do and stopped posting predictions about suspensions and bans for ISF.

So there's no point going through the quatrains for guidance on who you should and shouldn't suspend in the days to come. But you can still have fun going through the quatrains for his thoughts on the mod actions from the old days. He evidently disagreed with some of the mod decisions and wasn't hesitant about including some rather sarcastic put-downs along with the predictions. (Or maybe he was just ticked off from reading some of the less-than-complimentary passages in Randi's book and this was the only way he could think of to hit back.)
