The U.S., a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
North Korea calls U.S. "a living hell"

In what appears to be a response to a recent U.N. report accusing North Korea of crimes against humanity, the country has published one of its own, in which it calls the United States "the world's worst human rights abuser."

The English-language report provides a laundry list of partly accurate statistics and up-to-date current events that touch upon some of the thorniest issues of Beltway politics, revealing North Korea's interest in U.S. domestic affairs.

It draws reference to the NSA surveillance scandal, gun-related crimes, the world's highest incarceration rate, growing unemployment and poverty, and even the soaring housing prices to conclude that "the U.S. is a living hell."

But far worse are the words they had for President Obama!

Last Sunday, shortly after President Obama and South Korean President Park Geun-hye issued a stern warning against North Korea's provocations in Seoul, the North Korea news agency published a statement from a government spokesman calling Park "an indiscreet girl who earnestly begs a gangster to beat someone" while calling Mr. Obama "a fancy man."

Well if the North Korea officials have a good idea of how to fix those problems I'll be willing to listen.

If the US is a living hell, then N Korea is a long-dead hell.

My first thought, in responding to the thread, was to post this meme:

But decided to try something more mature.

So they've picked up on what American media have been telling us for my whole life. (And what we're routinely told European media are also always saying.)

Big deal. When has the USA ever not been the world's verbal whipping boy?

How dare they taunt Obama that way! A fancy man - whoa, those are fightin' words!

I'd say President Obama has far better fashion sense than North Korea's Kim Yung Dung. (Or whatever his name really is). Perhaps there is a bit of jealousy in the attempt at an insult.

The man makes the clothes, and all that.

yeah, well, Obama is just as bad. Bad-Haircut Kim executes his political opponents with flamethrowers, while Obama has his political opponents, um, fill out the same form his supporters fill out to get a tax deduction! the fiend!

Why not have a look at the European media for yourself on the internet?

The North Korean propaganda machine is risible and clumsy, but they managed to get in a couple of decent points:

The U.S. government has monitored every movement of its citizens and foreigners, with many cameras and tapping devices and even drones involved, under the pretext of 'national security.'

Its chief executive, Obama, indulges himself in luxury almost every day, squandering hundred millions of dollars on his foreign trip in disregard of his people's wretched life.

The U.S. also has 2.2 millions of prisoners at present, the highest number in the world. For lack of prisons on the part of the government, individuals are providing detention facilities to make money.

The last point is, unfortunately, completely accurate. If you count the population who are under some sort of correctional supervision (prison, parole, or probation), the number is 7 million- almost 3% of the US adult population! I'm in favor of privatization of most things but prisons are one of the few exceptions- when we make keeping prisoners profitable, we can expect more prisoners.

Then there are these gems:

Under the citizenship act, racialism is getting more severe in the U.S. The gaps between the minorities and the whites are very wide in the exercise of such rights to work and elect.

The U.S. true colors as a kingdom of racial discrimination was fully revealed by last year's case that the Florida Court gave a verdict of not guilty to a white policeman who shot to death an innocent black boy.

At present, an average of 300,000 people a week are registered as unemployed, but any proper measure has not been taken.

Meanwhile, bills on easing arms control were adopted in various states of the country, boosting murderous crimes. As a result, the U.S. has witnessed an increasing number of gun-related crimes in all parts of the country and even its military bases this year. In this regard, the United Nations on April 10 put the U.S. on the top of the world list of homicide rates.

The number of impoverished people increased to 46.5 millions last year, and one sixth of the citizens and 20-odd percent of the children are in the grip of famine in New York City.

There is no such thing as the "citizenship act". George Zimmerman is not a policeman (not that it matters, but he's also as white as Barack Obama). The country with the highest homicide rate is Honduras. There is no famine in New York City. Plus I'd like to know what "proper measures" the US government should take to ensure full employment- forced labor camps perhaps?

I wonder if any prisoners in the US would prefer to be prisoners in North Korea? I've heard their prison camps are not quite as pleasant as ours.

Obama has a better hair stylist, at least.
