Guys, we have to do something about this.

That's taxpayers' money - our money - that's being spent on this nonsense.

Anyone got any suggestions?

How about one of those mass suicide stunts using homeopathic sleeping pills? Or a targetted mass letter-writing campaign?

Anybody a solicitor/lawyer? Does using tax money to support substandard care violate any laws? If so, then perhaps all taxpayers may have locus standi to bring a law suit.....?

According to this article the GMC recently found two doctors guilty of serious professional misconduct after they prescribed alternative medicine for which there was no evidence of efficacy. Note in particular:

The GMC ruling has a further unusual feature. No patient ever complained about the two doctors in the dock. The complainant was a surgeon worried about his patient's refusal to have surgery. Being in full agreement with patients and having good intentions is thus not enough - "outsiders" can complain.

Is there some way a GP could complain on behalf of a patient being treated at one of these hospitals? After all there is certainly no evidence that homeopathy is efficacious, so this case could be a useful precedent.

Are there any UK GPs on this board?

Some 35 years ago I had to go into a NHS hospital for the removal of three wisdom teeth - I found myself in The Royal Homoeopathic, which was something of a daunting prospect.

However, I can report that all the medical and surgical procedures I underwent were strictly conventional - no woo-woo stuff at all.
