Last weeks Commentary "British National Health Service Waffles"

I have just received an e-mail from NHS direct informing me that they have removed the entry for homeopathy, while they are "reviewing" the entry.

Your recent complaint was passed to our Clinical Director and he has asked me to inform you that the encyclopaedia entry about homeopathy has now been removed from the website. The topic is currently being reviewed, during which process your comments will be taken into consideration and the updated version will go back onto the website as soon as possible.

My main complaint was that although they attempted to show "both side of the argument", the anti-homeopathic view point (aka "the scientific view point") was written by someone who clearly had a homeopathic agenda. I fear the entry will reappear in a toned down form, but still giving credibility to this "treatment"

(with thanks to my brother whos e-mail account I accidentally used to send the complaint from. Luckily he recogmised my handywork when he received the reply)

Good for you! It's a start.
Yes, it is a start, and MWare should be commended for this, unfortunately (and I'm trying not to sound like a conspiracy nut here) homeopathy has very strong support amongst the political establishment in the UK. In fact the regulations have just been changed to allow some homeopathic remedies to make therapeutic claims on their packaging. One step forward, two steps back :(
