New Website on Senator Joseph McCarthy

I've been reading about Senator Joseph McCarthy for most of my adult life. I've created a website that gives the facts about him to counteract the massive anti-McCarthy propaganda that many Democrats and their allies in so-called "academia" have given us about him.

https://sites.google.com/view/josephmccarthyvindicated/home

The site includes several videos of McCarthy speaking and giving interviews. It also includes some videos that offer good defenses of him, including an interview with Arthur Herman, author of Joseph McCarthy: Reexamining the Life and Legacy of America's Most Hated Senator, and an interview with M. Stanton Evans, author of the best defense of McCarthy ever written, Blacklisted by History.

NOTE: My reference to "many Democrats" should not be taken to mean that I oppose or condemn all Democrats or the Democratic Party en masse. As a deep purple Independent, I agree with the Democrats on some issues, such as health care, certain environmental issues, certain gun control issues, the child tax credit, the infrastructure bill, expanding relations with Cuba, and some other issues.

Have you no shame?

Feeling my age a little, I might mention that I was a youngster in the "McCarthy era." My parents, though they'd now count as not much further left than Joe Biden, were Day-glow red by comparison with old Joe McC, and not shy about expressing it. Without going into detail, let me just remark that death threats are nothing new.

Some of what is happening now is reminiscent, and not in a good way. Not at all.

I can claim two fairly pleasant memories of McCarthy. First of all that my mother enjoyed target pistol shooting, and used a magazine cover of Joe as her target, which I always thought was a hoot.

And second of all, we got our first TV set thanks to Joe, because my dad wanted to watch the McCarthy-Army hearings live. So, in a backwards upside down way, I suppose I can thank old Joe for Howdy Doody and Soupy Sales and Victory at Sea.

As for the referenced website, sorry but as far as I'm concerned it can go read itself, and the horse it rode in on.

Two degrees of separation:
McCarthy's chief counsel was Roy Cohn.
Donald Trump's mentor was Roy Cohn.
Hence the OP. It's not about McCarthy, it's love for the great god Trump.

This is a pointless, strawman argument. Many of the people who were positively identified as communists with rock-solid evidence were never detected by the Venona program.

I take it you didn't bother to read a single one of the articles on my website.

And for everyone's information, you may be surprised to learn that McCarthy was a moderate, almost liberal, on civil rights. He was also ardently pro-Israeli.

I always like how that type of website frame stuff:

i.e.

Senator Millard Tydings (left) was one of McCarthy’s most vicious, dishonest critics. Tydings falsely claimed that McCarthy had said in Wheeling, West Virginia, that he knew of 205 Communists in the State Department. But McCarthy did not say this; he said the number was 57.

I think that it rather misses the point...
