Jim Porter, incoming NRA president, seems quite the charming chap.
Jim Porter said:
"I get so sick and tired of all these people with this fake president that we got who wants to say, 'Well, you know he hadn't done anything bad for gun owners.' I say let me tell you something bad that he's done. His entire administration is anti-gun, anti-freedom, anti-Second Ammendment."

"[Porter] went on to call Attorney General Eric Holder 'rabidly un-American' and accused then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of 'trying to kill the Second Ammendment at the United Nations,' in an apparent attempt to implicate her in a conspiracy theory being circulated by some gun rights activists."
Why, it's certainly nice to see some level-headed, rational thinking rise to the top of such an organization.

"Fake president"? So he's a birther too?

Really until Sandy Hook I didn't think that he was particularly interested in making new gun control laws.

Unless one believes all these conspiracy theories that Obama and Holder are trying to whip up anti-gun sentiment by the Fast and Furious thing or mass shootings. Is that the kind of person we have here? A birther and believer in these conspiracy theories?

I don't think that necessarily follows. "Fake" as in saying he supports gun rights while actually believing the opposite.

He always wanted gun control laws, he just didn't think he had the opportunity until he had dead kids to use.

He's on record as supporting a ban on the sale, manufacture, and possession of handguns for example. (Question #35)

"Dead kids to use?" How do you even get from Newtown to a statement like that?
So Newtown wasn't constantly cited? Newtown parents weren't recruited to lobby legislators?

Of course he was using dead kids to push his agenda.

I predict that the high rate of gun deaths in the USA will continue for a long time yet as those in power will not compromise.

The NRA and Jim Porter use fake history to push their agenda. Reasoned argument and compromise is beyond either side.

So why didn't he use Aurora, CO?

Why didn't he use Binghamton Immigration Center?

Why didn't he use Fort Hood?

Why didn't he use Geneva, AL?

I can tell you from a place of first-hand knowledge. Nobody has to recruit the bereaved.

Be serious. Those all occurred before his last election. He couldn't afford to be against the Bill of Rights before the election, and so much time has now passed since those events that he can't use them as an appeal to emotion anymore.

What ulterior motive would mean old Obama have then for wanting to keep crazy people from owning guns, other than a concern for a continuing slaughter of kids across the country? He wants to prevent gun enthusiasts from taking over the government by force? He is just mean, and hates guns? He wants to anger wingnuts? What is it? What is that super secret motive or agenda that makes a disgusting phrase like "using dead kids" seem so palatable to the conservative mind set? Just spit it out! This negativism is getting tiresome.

Roughly 90% of the country mourns, but there must be some conspiracy that only 10% of an entire country is in on. What is it? What do you know that I don't?

What is it that Palin, Beck, LaPierre and others are really saying? What is a "fake president"? Of course no one ever quite says what this agenda is, because it is different for each right wing extremist. This hatred of anything Obama does has become a religion requiring no critical thinking.

The right wing has never been on the right side of any social movement. Why would anyone think they are on the side of history in this case?

I am being serious. He could have used them at the time. The tide was turning then, just like it's turning now. All these instances are just pieces of a larger puzzle.

The President didn't have to say anything following Newtown. Anybody who has ever been a parent, or loved a kid, felt like they'd just been sucker-punched.

How many dead kids constitutes "a continuing slaughter"?

No dead kids in those incidents.

Hey, he railed against the 1st Amendment prior to the election, even called out the SCOTUS justices present at a State of the Union address for upholding it.

When we need to worry about it not being that, I'll let you know.

So the phrase "a continuing slaughter", as it applies to dead kids, works for bicycle accidents, too, then? Or is it just more of that silly hyperbole that is so often presented in lieu of a reasoned argument? :D
