There comes a point , when actual stupidity exceeds the wildest satire, when one begins to wonder what not to believe as "real".
The Onion article mentions Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.
The first time I ever saw Oral Roberts, on Sunday morning TV in a Louisiana motel in 1980, I was hooting with laughter because I supposed it was a sort of American version of "Monty Python's Flying Circus".
And then I realised your man was absolutely serious.
It was one of the more chilling epiphanies of my life.
I remember the lady who cleaned the rooms came by at that point and restored my faith in America by telling me "That man is a damn fool!"
