As I've said a few times before, I'm on a rather wooish e-list. A couple of days ago, somebody posted the contents of an email they'd had. It was selling anti-obesity pills and was full of sciency-sounding garbage about genes (google for 'Obesi-Trim' if you're really interested).
I and several others lost no time in telling her that this was a scam. She posted back thanking us for the warnings - she'd been about to spend a lot of money on them - but very upset, as she was trying unsuccessfully to lose weight and had thought that these pills were the answer.
So I sent to the list this article on weight-loss scams to let her know she wasn't alone in being fooled. The article talks about Kevin Trudeau's book "The Weight-Loss Secret They Don't Want You to Know About," and mentions that he is a convicted felon with no medical or nutrition qualifications.
This morning, another poster replied "I have that book! I didn't know he was a convict with no qualifications. I'm going to get rid of it!"

Now I've got a nice warm glow..... One scam at a time, one scam at a time....

The link seems to be busted. Comes up with http.com search.

That's it

Nice one though. My good deed for today was not going to uni, thereby saving energy. My energy.

Good work. Now, if only I can convince my good friend and neighbor not to go get hypnotized to help her quit smoking.

Congratulations on a job well done. I've tried to convince Trudeau believers before, but they uniformly seem highly resistant to critical thinking. When any objection to him or his books comes up, the response seems almost pre-programmed:

"Well, that's what Big Pharma wants you to think! He's a genius, and deserves respect! The government is out to get him!"

Truth be told, I've pretty much given up on trying to fight those particular battles. Good to hear that others have not.
