Just because other religion does similar thing doesn't necessarily make something right, just, or good. Keeping this in mind please tell me what do you think about the following argument I found in the internet. Specially the arguement number 3.

Killing domesticated animals by slitting their throats halfway to let them bleed to death slowly is horrific by itself. In addition, doing such horrific killings of 1000s of animals in the presence of kids in the name of Allah whom all Muslim admire, love, and look up to is sickening. On top of it these religious rogues consider such brutal ritual as all merciful is indeed mind boggling. Furthermore, the refusal to accept the alternative way praying all mighty on this special by freeing the cow or goat just before slitting its throat to emulate Allah’s mercy and to remember Ibrahim and his kid's story is far better appropriate and give analogy of the death of person’s soul....

What do you call a person (Muslim) who has higher formal degrees in science and engineering but still thinks that on a special day (Eid-ul-Adha), in the name of a special entity (Allah) who he/she loves, admire, look up to, cut the neck of a goat or cow and recites Allah-Hu-Akbar and then feel good about it?

1. These same Muslims are aware of the fact that animal feel pain too.
2. These same Muslims are aware of the fact that vegetable is much better for health than meat items.
3. These same Muslims know that even criminals keeps their bad deeds separate from their loved one.

Wouldn't it have been better if they had said:
Oh, My dear Allah, despite of the fact that I know animal feel pain, I, 364 days of the 365 days, have been killing and eating goats and cows for my own sake, for my own id, that is my weakness, my shortcomings but today, just for one day, at least for one day only, on this special day, I will do a good act because you are Al-Rahman, and Al-Raheem, I will not kill this goat that is lying on the ground with legs tied. I can't do this barbaric act in your name who I love, admire and look up to. Then cut the rope from the legs of the goat, slap on the goat. Goat gets up and runs away. Then everyone who were watching clap and shout, Allah-Hu-Akbar, Allah Hu-Akbar, Al-Rahman-o', Al-Raheemo'.
Wouldn't that have been a sight worth watching?
But Muslims would continue to justify this act even after pointing out these logics.

Then I call these people mentally sick.
I condemn them, not only for their action but more so for their inability to see injustice, wrongness in this act. Brains Memetic problem, an acquired mental disorder.
Muslims, who deny this powerful logic, have lost their soul, metaphorically speaking.
What is soul anyway?
The only rational definition of this commonly known term "soul" is:
Soul is the part of the brain that is capable of collecting relevant data, process justly, and come up with the distinction between true and false, good and bad, right and wrong, justice and injustice.
Muslims have lost this part of the brain, soul.

Hey, Muslims, I am not asking you to be vegetarian. All I am asking you is not to eat meat only 1 day of the year.
I am asking you to free the goat on this special day only. I am asking you not do this barbaric act in the name of the creator who you admire and consider merciful, show mercy on this day.
Since you do not understand this that is why I condemn your thought and action. I condemn Islam and Muslim.

Hey Muslims, if you think this practice has nothing to do with trivializing barbarism in a society then think again.
You are wrong.
Belief has consequences.
When practiced this ritual by hundreds of millions of people, without a guilt, all around the world then the result is obvious, barbarism, suicide bombing, beheading, all in the name of Allah.

I think it's nonsense. Specifically, I think its cultural absolutism and lack of perspective makes it that special breed of nonsense that actually makes the world worse just by having been spoken.

The arguement against the Muslim sacrifying in the name of Allah or other way round?

You don't think that following would have been a better way to remember Ibrahim and emulate mercy of god?

Well Tim the only solution I can see to this problem is for you to start your own religion and convert everyone in the world to your one true faith and make sure nothing bad ever gets perpetrated in your name. Good luck.

I think dismantling the religion and tossing it away entirely is in order. Trying to "fix" it will only help it to continue even when people should know better.

Please don't take me the wrong way... I feel the same way about Christianity. Muslims are no worse, really, in my book. I don't dislike the people that follow it, necessarily. I merely despise the dogma itself.

.
About the only way to nullify any of the preachings of any religion is for the adherents thereunto to become aware of how to live outside the strictures they hold dear.
The Reformation accomplished that for Christianity, by splintering the religion into many competing sects, which had to generate a secular government to keep society going.
Something like that has occurred in Turkey, but has not yet spread to the rest of the Islamic world.
Indonesia has managed to get past the blind adherence to Islam, but they are still plagued with the recidivists demanding a return to the Dark Ages.
It's up to Islamics to finger out how to secularize their religion.
It cannot be imposed from outside Islam.
