A MUSLIM bus driver told stunned passengers to get off so he could PRAY.

The white Islamic convert rolled out his prayer mat in the aisle and knelt on the floor facing Mecca.

Great excuse for being late for work... But who'd believe it? The bus company didn't when a man complained. Good job he got it on video (scroll halfway down page).

Wouldn't a Muslim in the United States want to pray more or less at the ground? Or can prayers not penetrate the Earth's crust, and must scuttle along the surface to reach Mecca? And what do they do when they get there? Does that big meteorite function like the I/O towers in Tron?
 
I think it works something like the great circles that pilots use to calculate the shortest distance around the globe.

I am surprised the passengers didn't call the police.
 
Didn't any of the passengers have the cojones to tell the driver that HE could get off the bus .... and stay off.
 
Here, ironically, most bus drivers are Phillipino or (non-Muslim) Indians so I don't think we have that problem.
 
If the next driver is a Catholic (and there will be a next one if this repeats itself), he will be allowed have a huge picture of the Virgin Mary on the dashboard, a humongous rosary with crucifix dangling from the rear-view mirror, and be allowed cross himself noisily every time the bus successfully comes to a halt at a stop.

Its the convertees that are the worst of the lot. We have some female caucausians in this land who are more muslim than muslims. Strutting around telling everyone how proud they are that they wear the burka etc. Idiots don't even realise that wearing it means they are being subjugated by the male muslims.

This chap is probably really proud of the fact that he made everyone get off, so he could pray. Ignorant jerk.

I would like to know whether a real muslim (born and bred) would have done the same.

Why would they have to get off the bus? So he wouldn't be distracted as some wiseasses teased him?

I am a white convert to Islam.

What the brother did was wrong.

I assume he must have been a new convert.

I appreciate his enthusian for the religion but he needs to be instructed by some knowledgable Muslims as to the rules and allowances for prayer time.

When at work a Muslim needs to wait for break time to pray. Or do a make-up prayer if that's not possible.

This idea isn't so bad/ I absolutely adore the way buses are covered in religious ritual objects and decorations in the Latin countries. They're beautiful works of folk art.
 
I hope the driver catches a bad case of "getting fired."

I don't care if he stopped to pray to Mecca, say the Rosary or re-read his favourite chapter in The God Delusion, that sort of behaviour is inexcusable. To inconvenience dozens of people - not to mention all the other people depending on the timely arrival of these people - with this kind of action is arrogant in the extreme.
