I'm a fan of the British band Muse, and just looking at wiki, I came across this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:MuseNIA.JPG

I couldn't believe it! It almost looked like they deliberately made them look like the WTC and it doesn't help that the upper block looks poised to fall on the lower block.

I did a search for "Muse 9/11" and surprise surprise, the frontman is a big 9/11 truther who thinks the "new pear harbour" proves it was an inside job.

I haven't been able to read anything on the choice for this set design, but if they're deliberately made out to be the WTC then that is really disgusting.

So disapointed when people you once respected turn out to be dicks.

Disappointing indeed, as has been noted before. But hey, art is art. Whackjobbery of various kinds has inspired some great stuff over the years.

The frontman is absolutely right of course. Muse may have lost a fan in you but have gained one in me. That sounds like a good trade all round.

yawn. This is why I listen to metal

If somebody could work on your avatar and make the head of the guitar protrude a little out of the box even for a split second each cycle it would make the whole thing really 3-D.

Not that i particularly like muse but i understand the op's discontent.

It was the same way i felt when i found out Alex Jones was in a scanner darkly. Now shouldn't the fact that they asked him to be in a fictional conspiracy theory movie be kind of a hint to him of something?

But on the flip side, this is the opposite of the way i felt when i found out Penn and Teller are in the Run DMC video IT's Tricky. ( last week. )

Seriously though... building the WTC on stage with a hole in the middle. Calling one of your albums HAARP? Rehashing the ******** new pearl harbor quote?

You'd think with it being 2009, a musical genius would have grown out of that bullcrap.

Although having listened to their latest album, they are **** now anyway.

Speaking only of the set design itself... I like it. It's quite striking and evocative, not specifically of "inside job" but rather as a more general sense of menace, of the fragility of civilization and the even greater vulnerability of individuals within it. Performers for decades have used images and footage of mushroom clouds for similar reasons, exploiting a similarly ironic beauty. But this seems more personal and original. (cf: Damocles.)

Respectfully,

What are you smoking?

Building a WTC set when you are a 9/11 twoofer is just laughing at the people who were murdered.

Don't ever pay attention to any twoofer saying they are doing what they are doing out of respect for the victims. The frontman deliberately misquoted the "new pearl harbour" quote to make it sound like it explicitly mentioned going to war. That is simply a lie to maintain a delusional or entertaining belief system.

Lame. But I don't think believing in conspiracies makes one a dick, or deliberately disrespectful to those who died.

I understand people can get angry when they know the arguments they're quoting are bull, but to pretend that none of the truthers care about the people who died seems a bit over the top. It's certainly not laughing at the people who were murdered. And I'm not even a muse fan really.

Never cared for Muse, and the frontman's 9/11 kookery is disappointing, but the fact they made Glenn Beck recant his tweeted endorsement of The Resistance means they're all right with me.

I saw Muse live in 2006 and have been a fan forever.

His kookery doesn't bother me.

Just in case anyone really cares.

Apparently Matt Bellamy has changed his mind and he no longer considers 9/11 to be an inside job.

Much whining here.

I love Philbin's rationalization of it all:

some kook said:
so it was an OUTSIDE JOB... does Bellamy have culprits for this?

we may be surprised... it may not be some arabs in some caves in Afghanistan.

the definition of OUTSIDE JOB (depending on its broadness) could STILL involve covert elements in one's own government.

E: This is just as hilarious:

Notice how one foot is on the concrete and the other is on the checkered patterned floor which I believe has a strong masonic/occultic symbolism. The foot on the concrete is in the foreground as if to say 'this is the side I'm showing you' while his other foot in the background(on the checkered floor) is saying 'this is the side I'm NOT showing you.'
To me this image is saying- Two faced or working for both sides.

Post 389 in that thread is just brilliant.

Referring to Bellamys foot position in a promotional band photo...

Wow, @ the quote about the checkered floor.

Honestly if Alex Jones started his show with the Benny Hill theme, and brought out every major truther and had them admit, and prove they were just effing with people , there would be posts the next day about how it was really Jones giving code that there is going to be a big truther event soon.

( on a side note, truther is not a word, but effing is, what a weird world we live in.)
