Liverpool scumbag medium Joe Power claims murdered London teenager Sally Ann Bowman's has contacted him with the name of the killer.Power has told police the killer could have the surname White and the first name Stephen or Stephan. He might live in a block of flats by railway lines and have been in a park before the murder.
And Mr Power believes the killer, who he thinks is a delivery driver aged between 24 and 26 *met the girl through a friend of a friend*
A Detective said "We don't actively seek the help of psychics but we never turn down information of any sort"

Sally Ann's mother has pleaded with police to take Joe Power's info seriously,as she ....wait for it....believes in mediums.

*-This info has already been mooted by a work colleague of the girl in the press, some time ago.

Source Daily Mirror today.

This is the same medium who claims on his website to have already solved one murder in Southport. This link covers that story and I have selected one para which may seem familiar
in bold.

From that article:

A police spokesman said: "We get a lot of calls from spiritualists, but we deal in fact."

Well done to him. It really makes me sick these people trying to profit from this type of tragedy. You just KNOW they'll have it on their website that they 'helped' in the case.

Again from the This Is London article
"A lot of what Mr Murphy has said makes sense. We've been told by two other mediums that Sally Anne's belongings are hidden by a tree in a park."
How many mediums has she been to? This is very sad.

Two at least, sadly. Two mediums and still her killer is still not caught.Perhaps her mother cans ee a pattern emerging?
I emailed Joe Power's manger/agent yesterday venting my displeasure.Any reply wil go here.

I agree and precisely the reason why we need some sort of blanket statement from UK police forces outlining their clear and unequivocal position on so called 'psychic detectives'. Police spokesmen in the Ben Murphy and Joe Power articles give mixed messages to psychics and the public.

When asked individually each UK police force refutes any suggestion of using psychics in any capacity. A unified statement from a body such as the Association of Chief Police Officers would go a long way to clearing up this nonsense once and for all.

I've very recently contacted ACPO(UK) and ACPOS (Scotland) on this very matter - let's hope they reply.

On the subject of Joe Power - this psychic claims involvement in a number of cases see
http://www.joe-power.com/articles.asp

Again enquiries are in hand with the police forces concerned (Sussex and Merseyside) to establish the truth of his involvement and value of any 'help' given.

So, when this information turns out to be spurious, surely he could be arrested for wasting police time?

Sadly not.The police are obliged to consider any information supplied to them.Consider the opposite:a psychic gives info, police disregard it as bunkum;later transpires that info was true(paranormal or otherwise obtained).Big hoo hah takes place.

Better to get these psychics and make them give info that isn't vague."What is Sally Anne's childhood sweetheart's name? Name of her Greta grandmother..etc." Kind of prove your worth and we wil take notice.

The really bad part is that people like this eejit - and the people they scam - really think they are giving useful information. For instance, he supposedly saw the killer bury her possessions in a park. WHICH park? Are the police supposed to dig up every park in the country?
That's absolutely typical of such mediums, as KellyJ's blog shows. They sprinkle in a few known facts and fill in the rest of the reading with vague flummery and guesses that cannot possibly be verified.
Then they complain when the police won't follow up their "information"!

How is it the dead girl "knows where her things are buried?" to tel the medium.Does dying make you psychic too? If not and supposing the spirit is privvy to things she didnt know when alive, why not give the killer's name ,address etc.?

But surely, if I walked into a police station with a big story about a case, and claimed that I did not get this information psychically, but from very normal means (perhaps I tell them I live in a flat next door to the murderer), and my information was found to be completely false, surely I would be liable for prosecution for wasting police time? Isn't that what that law's there for?

Also, if I did have valid information and released the name to the press, I daresay I should be liable to some harsh words at least for tipping off a guy to get an alibi or skip the country.

(edited to fix quote box thingy)

There's always the curious case of Etta Louise Smith who told police she had a psychic vision, apparently because a friend who knew (and feared) the killer asked her for help in approaching the police.

Surely the fact that the police have to consider any and all information supplied to them is the reason that people can be prosecuted for wasting police time by giving false information.

Does anyone know whether the name "Stephen White" has been in the press in relation to this? That's very specific information for a psychic to be giving. The rest is not so specific: there are a lot of railway lines in South London, for example, and quite a few areas which could be described as "parks". But the name surely gives only a very small probability of a hit if Power doesn't have some info from somewhere.

I dunno Mojo about the name. But railway lines and park are vague, also White and Stepehn taken seperately.I will have a google around try see.

No becuase it would probaly have to be shown he knew it would be false.

IMO he should be arrested as a suspect,if he can't prove his "gift" or confirm his information.
