Hi - I've just got a new pc running vista premium and find that the multi-quote and quick reply buttons cause a page navigation to the reply page, as if I had clicked on 'Quote'. Hence I can't select posts to reply to in one go. I'm using Windows Explorer 7, the same as before, but was using XP.

The error happens on different forums, not just jref (I suppose it could be a bug in the forum software). The text in the status bar shows the same '...do=newreply...' link as 'Quote', where presumably it ought to show something else. The 'Link' javascript is ok, and the 'top' link, it's just that the three buttons in between all do the same - reply using the reply form page!

Could be a bug in your crappy Microsoft browser.

Try Firefox. It has different crappy bugs, but it will probably work right.

You shouldn't use IE or any of the Microsoft mail clients or other web tools, either. It's not that they're any less 'secure' than the dozens of other versions of each, it's just that Microsoft tools are the most targeted by malware writers, and therefore most compatible with all of the nastiest little surprises on the web.

Thanks pingnak, but I've kind of got used to IE and paid for it too as part of the package, and I've used it for years without a problem by running Spybot S&D and suchlike. I guess I might try firefox again - last time I did I was disappointed it didn't have a certain feature that the new IE7 did, but it might have caught up with that now. Besides, IE7 was doing what it should on my XP machine.

It should work fine with the default settings. Is it possible that the security settings for the Internet zone have been modified or set to "High"?You can check by going to Internet Options in IE/Control Panel and clicking on the Security tab. Try resetting it to Medium-high.

Thanks, I've tried that and it's not it (closing and restarting IE). 'Protected mode' is on, but I think it was by default. It's a weird thing - on my XP machine the status bar text is exactly the same when I hover over the multi-quote button, but it just toggles the button when I click rather than doing a page nav. Maybe it's time to try firefox.
