One of my local radio stations now has one of the talking to the dead shows. It really, really, pisses me off to hear someone manipulating people's emotions just for profit. Not only that, but cold reading over the phone is absolutely horrible. I realize that I may not be able to get the show off the air (it's only on for 2 hours each week), but I figure at least I can get them to stick some disclaimer on the show.

anyway, here is the a--hat:

Any tips?

I used to listen to a radio station in vancouver and the morning show guys would have a psychic on every friday. This guy was so damn pathetic. He would give advice to people about where they should move and how they have unfinished business here or there. The guy has a website and does one on one sessions and this was nothing more then an advertisement for this guy. And the show hosts couldn't get enough of him and how "accurate" he is.

I emailed the show and told them I would not be listening anymore if they kept having this guy on. I told them how dangerous it could be for this psychic to be giving life changing advice to people etc. I suggested that if they insist on having an unproven psychic on they should give equal time to a skeptic who is not out to make a dollar. I said the least they should be doing is having a disclaimer like they do on tv, for entertainment purposes only, and that I will be filing a complaint with the CRTC which is responsible for what goes on the radio and TV in Canada. The station just had a big thing with the CRTC and Tom Leykis so I was hoping they would take it seriously.

I got the typical form response about how they bring up suggestions at their monthly meetings. I moved and haven't listened to the show since so I don't know if anything happened but I would guess nothing did.

Whatever you decide to do, it is better then doing nothing. Good luck.
