Just imagine if Hitler were alive today, and the Nazi party got tax exempt status as a religion and could afford an endless parade of party lawyers, blackmailed public officials and zealots who would risk all to carry out orders for them. Imagine if this Nazi party threatened to launch a campaign against the IRS exposing abuses and loopholes in the law concerning their right to enforce tax laws. Imagine they have governors with very embarrassing secrets in their pocket, or senators or congressmen. What would it take to put them out of business? A march on Washington with 250,000 people in attendance? Perhaps a march on some sleepy Floridian town. It is a very, very slippery slope. We all want the Nazi party to go away, but at what cost to personal freedom? How do you eliminate a religion and it's practice on the grounds that it is brainwashing and totalitarian in objectives without opening the door to Big Brother even further? The fact that this Nazi party exists, has an official religious seal, tax exempt status, and can operate with virtual impunity suggests to me that they are a symptom of a system that uses them to their advantage. They are allowed to brainwash, control, murder, extort and violate nearly every tenet of society. Look, I don't like the Nazi party and if they infiltrate my kids school with "study technology" or some other low level indoctrination with the hope of finding converts for the Youth Movement, all I could really do is find another school, and another, and another. This does not solve the problem, it merely delays the inevitable. The problem is complex. If we convince the government to strip them of all rights to operate, we'll find new laws enacted that will make it necessary to obtain a federal license to conduct a poetry reading club or sewing circle. At this point, we have played directly into the hands of those who seek to eliminate personal freedom. No, we don't want that either. But this is why they are allowed to exist, so that one day when it is clear the problem can only be solved by Homeland Security or the Department du jour then legislation can be enacted to make it a federal offense to congregate for the purpose of < fill in the blank > without the appropriate government approval. This is the reason why they exist, and this is their function and there is really no other reason. Now, of course the Nazi party doesn't realize this, they are just being Nazi's because that's what they do. And the people with a valid complaint against them protest because it is their right and duty. Sure, who could argue with that? We as a society need to understand the consequences of our actions, a very difficult task.
The world is a college of corporations,
inexorably determined by the
immutable by-laws of business. The
world is a business, Mr. Beale! It
has been since man crawled out of
the slime, and our children, Mr.
Beale, will live to see that perfect
world in which there is no war and
famine, oppression and brutality --
one vast and ecumenical holding
company, for whom all men will work
to serve a common profit, in which
all men will hold a share of stock,
all necessities provided, all
anxieties tranquilized, all boredom
amused. And I have chosen you to
preach this evangel, Mr. Beale.
