Stephen Lemons files his report from the final day of Trooferpalooza in Chandler:

A slight, tan woman with dark brown hair, Sofia [9-11 Mysteries] admonished me for being a bad journalist and refused to answer any questions as she hustled off. Next to her, unbeknownst to me at first, was Prof. Kevin Barrett, who kept acting like he wanted to get physical with me. He grabbed my tape recorder a couple of times, but I wouldn’t let go. And he kept bumping into me on purpose as I walked next to him. Basically he called me a piece of crap, worse even than Sean Hannity!

Although he describes it as more congenial than our Friday session with the Truthers, it sounds quite the opposite as he also tangles with Sander Hicks and is forced to listen to the Archbish himself, Bob Bowman.

Jon Gold has put up a quicktime movie of the first couple days; it's a honking 360 megs. Stephen Lemons gets into it with the Truthers about 28 minutes in, while my little fracas with Uncle Fetzer comes at about 1:16:10.

The Meria Heller speech he mentions is here. Some memorable bits:

At 22:45 we discover that Meria's got something in common with the John Birch Society:

"We have flouride in our water, which is a mind-control drug."

At 23:20:

"We have contrails and chemtrails poisoning our skies. We have polluted fish, intersex fish (?), fish with Ebola and kidney disease."

Who knew fish had kidneys? (Yes, I know now).

At 30:08:

"We have leaders and members of this administration with dual citizenship with other countries. Well, whose agenda are they following?" (A helpful member of the crowd says, "Israel.")

At 36:15:

"We need to account for Operation Paperclip, which enlisted the worst Nazis in our NASA and our CIA. Whose agenda are they following?" (Mercifully nobody suggests "Israel.")

Great stuff!

I'm on another board, arguing with a sychophant for the local Air America station who sees nothing wrong with local host Jeff Fariah being the emcee of this event.

When the left goes to loony extremes and meets up with the right going far right, you are at the kook sweet spot.

These people nauseate me.

Someone grifted money out of this whole thing.

They're fighting eachother, seeking out the "disinfo agents," buying into every stupid theory that comes along and rambling about all storts of stupid crap when they take a break from 9/11 Twoof.

In case anyone out there still isn't sure....NO, this "movement" is not gonna overthrow the US government.

The past few days have been a showcase for the movement's idiocy and irrelevance. They're toast. :tombstone

Hah, Jim Marrs talks about interviewing Lauro Chaves 27 minutes in as a source on the goings on at CENTCOM.

Glad you are up on your research there Jim!

Isn't that the guy who faked his DD 214?

Isn't that the guy who faked his DD 214?

Yeah, he was exposed here as a fake 6 months ago. He has not appeared in public since then, but is still repeatedly cited by truthers as a whistleblower.

Don't take this badly Brainster, but why did you start a new thread about this? Couldn't you have continued the discussion on the other thread about that very same conference?

It's just that since a month or so, there seems to have been an increase in unnecessary new threads all about the same subjects, and it's hard to keep up when dozen new threads appear everyday.

Just my two cents (0.0233820 Canadian) :)

Stephen Lemons exclaims "who cares?" when it is pointed out one of the panel had a son die on 911.

Despicable.

His point was that they were carrying on like this was a pep rally and not a press conference. As the lone member of the real working press (unless you consider the Idaho Observer a real media outlet), he was the one person in the crowd to judge.

People gain credibility in the Denial movement not based on what they have done, but on who they are and how that can be sold to the public. McIlvaine because he's a family member and that gives him a shield against criticism for his CT beliefs. Steven Jones because he's a scientist, and now they can say they have one of those. Morgan Reynolds because he's a former Bush Administration official (however minor) and now they can say they have one of those.
