This has probably been mentioned (I've not had time to search!).

In any event, I found this news item interesting.

From an AP News article:

WASHINGTON - Those things that go bump in the night? About one-third of people believe they could be ghosts.

And nearly one out of four, 23 percent, say they've actually seen a ghost or felt its presence, finds a pre-Halloween poll by The Associated Press and Ipsos.

Those who dismissed the existence of ghosts include Morris Swadener, 66, a Navy retiree from Kingston, Wash.

He says he shot one with his rifle when he was a child.

"I woke up in the middle of the night and saw a white ghost in my closet," he said. "I discovered I'd put a hole in my brand new white shirt. My mother and father were not amused."

Could be a bit dangerous to be the parent of a kid who sleeps with a rifle.

Felt its presence....? What does that even mean? Some people could easily take that to mean "Have you ever gotten the willies?". So the 23%of people who have seen or felt a ghost isn't all that shocking. But I'm actually quite impressed that only a third believe in ghosts. I would have guessed two thirds.

My friend's mom is bat$#!% crazy about the ghosts that live on her property.

She's made up all these stories about the people she believes lived and died there long ago. Sometimes she goes out in the yard to talk to them... For real. She's a lovely woman, but absolutely deluded into believing in these ghosts. There's absolutely no evidence that anyone ever lived in that aread before it was developed, but she insists they're burried back there and in fact even asked for their blessing for the wedding they had in their yard for a friend.

So, what did they do with those willies after they got them?

Another way to look at the story is, Ghosts have more support than Pres. Bush and Congress together. Vote for dead people!
