Hello all. Has anyone been subjected to the Monavie product? It's an Acai Blend/juice drink/dietary supplement. While the company makes no claims as to what it can do, the salespeople are unregulated, and relate anecdotes about the product curing all range of disease and illness. Can some of you weigh in, so I can try to compile some data on the subject? I know that any time a product has to be sold through an MLM ( a way of saying a pyramid scheme that is side-stepping the restrictions on such) is usually an indicator of quackery.

Thanks!!!

Hello all. Has anyone been subjected to the Monavie product?

We had a brief discussion on this a while back. It was brief because Joobz basically came in and answered every question preemptively in a single post: http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3665058&postcount=6

I think the conclusion is: Acai is good for you, but not as good as pomegranate, and pomegranate juice doesn't cost $50/bottle. If it tastes good, great go ahead and drink it. If you notice an unusual lump on your body, drink a glass if you're thirsty, then go see a doctor.

By the way IssueFocused; please clearly produce the papers that support your claim that:
1)Monavie(NOT the acai berry) has more antioxidants than all the fruits mentioned.
2)How your retarded logic that drinking Monavie is equivalent to eating 19 different fruits and how that is even equivalent.
3)Overdose? Overdose on what? Your "facts"?

In summary, stop spamming us. Stop with the pyramid scheme. Stop with the woo woo claims.

edit:
Hmmmm...looks like IssueFocused, the Monavie sale rep/spammer has been deleted...too bad.

This was running rampant in my hometown last year....both my mother and father got in on it (as buyers, there were a staggering number of ridiculous health claims made). I kept repeating, "It's fruit juice."

One lady claimed that she had stopped taking her arthritis meds, because once she started drinking Monavie, all her pain stopped immediately. What did I have to say to that?

"It's fruit juice. And if it's so great, why do they have to sell it in the same MLM method that all the other scams do? Also, where are the studies? Science would be all over this if it were even remotely effective."

They're both off of it now, and admit that it did nothing and was expensive.

BUT THIS IS FROM TEH RAINFOREST!!1!
