Mind Myths --- ed. Sergio Della Sala. A collection of papers by psychologists on psychological woo, with lots of interesting stuff about hypnosis, OOBEs induced by magnetism, the 10% myth, subliminal messages, the "intuitive right brain", "recovered memory", the lot. And unlike woo books on the same subjects... it has pages and pages and pages of references to scientific studies rather than anonymous anecdotes. (Hey, True Believers, this is how it works.)

It has a chapter on the use of psychological deception in magic by some chap called James Randi, and the book also features a worthless mind enhancement gizmo with a worthless endorsement from worthless Roger Coghill. Forum members will feel quite at home.

I take it that's not the myth but the explanation offered. What does he describe as the myth with regards to OBE's?
