Mildly irked at CSI episode (spoiler?)

I was watching CSI tonight, and I was a little disappointed. The episode centered on a psychic being murdered. Not to give anything away, but what bugged me was they tried to show the psychic as "one of the real ones". One of the main characters not only admitted he believed, but also that he thought he might have "the gift" as well. At the end, I was expecting Grissom to give a little talk on self-delusion, cognitive or logical fallacies, or... something. But no.

It seems the producers (writers?) don't want to alienate the "believer" crowd. But still, it's odd what with the show being so science-heavy. Oh well...

ehehe, I remember one episode they talked about terminal veolicity being 9.8 meters per second squared.

LALALALALALALALALALALALALA, not on yet I'll come back and read this after watching Earl and the office.

I watched it. Grissom debunked it at the end. The psychic's words were miss heard. She wasn't talking about the name of a place but a place where spirits go. I'll admit that I was pretty disappointed until the very end.

I just watched the episode, and have to disagree with the original post. I saw nothing in the episode which portrayed her as "one of the real ones."

For one thing, the "psychic" was portrayed in at least one scene as an extorting con-artist. And the few "hits" the younger CSI guy noticed amounted to anything.

Like RandFan said, the psychic angle was debunked, and even Grissom pointed out the power of suggestion and coincidence right from the start. Took the woo down a notch or two.

There was no "The Office" tonight. :(

Yes, SRW, it was the perfect crime, and the perfect cover-up, except for one thing -- you neglected to check your local listings.

Read him his rights.

Good ol Grissom! Obviously he's learnt a lot since catching the Tooth Fairy.Well,he didn't so much catch him as blow him away, but still...

What does CSI stand for?

It's one of those USA shows in which the "labs" are all lit with mood lighting with plenty of shadows and all decked out in chrome and glass like a modernist's Manhattan apartment.

Much removed from all the labs I've ever visited.

And here I thought my Tivo betrayed me. And it were NBC that turned me in.

Bookem Dano.

I thought CSI did a pretty good job, considering. Especially at the end when there was a line about keeping belief separate from the science.

You're just jealous because US labs are sexier. ;)

I just enjoy the action parts where the CSI forensic lab guys get to burst into the evil baddies lair waving hand guns, while a full SWAT team coated from head to toe in kevlar and armed with M16s and stun grenades hides behind the cars down the street just in case they get hurt by drifting into the line of fire.

Hell, I'm still irked about the episode where the chick with porphyria was self-medicating with shakes made out of hapless joggers. I about put my foot through the screen.

Seems like the stars of all the LE type shows do that. Cracks me up.

CSI is an interesting ordeal because Jerry Bruckheimer is forced to fit events into the realm of 'what could actually happen'. As in, no exploding cars. They seem to take painstaking steps to assure the forensics is exacts, but completely ignore common sense when dealing with things like:

drugs
computers/the internet
gambling

I always wonder why shows like this can't find someone to point out huge errors in their content. I know TV shows are on a tight budget, but I'd do it for $100 an episode.
