Mel Gibson says he attended Mass every morning while shooting his new movie, The Passion, because "we had to be squeaky clean just working on this."
Whaddya know, Billie. This is a Catholic based movie. It's awful big of you to support their work. I was under the impression that you didn't consider them to be real Christians.

ARTICPENGUIN...

why?

The Holy Spirit works for Christians,which explains why Christians unlike Atheists arent sad.

Oh, Billie. with comments like that, why would any atheist ever be sad? :D Seriously, what makes you think atheists are sad?

But, to the point, aparently not only does the Holy Spirit work for Christians, but it also works for Catholics too. But that must mean that Catholics are Christians, right?

The Roman Catholic Church who dont believe in what John 14:6 says

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

I consider Catholics who believe Jesus Christ to be Son of God and the only way to Salvation to be Christians.

and Second Now how can any group of individual that calls themself a Christian call themself a Christian if the dont believe Jesus Christ is the son of GOD and dont believe what John 14:6.

A Christian can only be a Christian if they believe what John 14:6 and Romans 3:23 and John 3:16 say.

Just because some Catholic Groups who dont believe JESUS CHRIST is the MESSIAH or just because the MORMON CHURCH or JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES call themselves a Christian Group dont mean squat.

If the believe in Jesus Christ and have turned to Jesus Christ for Salvation than they are a Christian.

Billiefan2000,

what if the Bilble has been translated wrong, and you Xians are holding a false faith alltogether?

Lord Emsworth...

Do you or anyone else hear know who SIMON GREENLEAF IS?

SimonGreenleaf, one of the principle founders of the Harvard Law School, originally set out to disprove the biblical testimony concerning the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He was certain that a careful examination of the internal witness of the Gospels would dispel all the myths at the heart of Christianity.

But this legal scholar came to the conclusion that the witnesses were reliable, and that the resurrection did in fact happen.

Now tell me how one of the best known Experts on Evidence and Information in the USA's history came to that conclusion?

What has that got to do with translations?

How do you know that the idioms of that time were translated correctly?

Gee Billifan2000 - While I don't know which apologist codswallop you're cutting this from, it doesn't matter.

It's a very weak appeal to authority.

It's basically stating "a famous lawyer thinks the Bible is true, you should too."

And you'll pardon me if I ignore the appeal without any references or bases for opinion.

Hey Billifan2000 - a current Harvard psychology professor thinks that alien abduction is occurring - it must be true.

BF

And by the way, I have read the gospel accounts of the resurrection and reach the conclusion that because the stories are unauthenticated, contradictory, and hearsay upon hearsay, they should be excluded from court under all relevant legal standards.

And guess what, I know all the Federal Rules of Evidence!

If that's Gibson's excuse for The Passion, I can't wait to hear what "entity" was working through Travolta when he made Battlefield Earth.

If the internet has taught us anything, it's just how willing people are to pass on unverified information to all and sundry.

How do the doctrines any of the major world religions substantially differ from the urban legends which pervade the internet and which are constantly validated because "a friend of mine told me" or "it happened to my friend"? Why should religion not be subject to the same level of scrutiny as any other "friend of a friend" tale?

The answer to the first question is NO, I don't. I can't speak for all of course.

So then, in the latter question, you say he is one of the "best known" la-de-da. You haven't established that he is well-known at all. I don't think you would have gotten very far in Harvard Law School with that level of thinking.

I will never forget a cartoon I saw years ago. It was two monks working on a medieval manuscript and one says to the other: "Wouldn't it be funny if someone one day believed this crap?". Sounds like Billiefan is one of those they were referring to.

I'm an atheist and happy too! ;)

As weird as this film may sound, I'm actually somewhat interested to see it. I think Gibson is a much better-than-average director, and Jim Caviezel and Monica Belluci are both capable of great work.

I agree. This movie could just be a bit of revisionist weirdness that I might enjoy.

One thing I am fairly certain about - protestors (who haven't bothered to see the movie of course) - will ensure that it gets much more press than would otherwise be the case.

Hey Billie;

Here is a link I found after a 1 minute Google search on Simon Greenleaf;
http://christjesus.us/greenleaf.html

And here is the first paragraph;
"Greenleaf, one of the principle founders of the Harvard Law School, originally set out to disprove the biblical testimony concerning the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He was certain that a careful examination of the internal witness of the Gospels would dispel all the myths at the heart of Christianity. But this legal scholar came to the conclusion that the witnesses were reliable, and that the resurrection did in fact happen. Made available online by Shane Rosenthal for Reformation Ink, this essay is in the public domain and may be freely copied and distributed."

Sound familiar???

Tell me Billie - do you EVER think for yourself??

A bit of advice; The brain is a muscle - use it or lose it babe!
