Now that its been declared a successful "landing".. does this mean americans are better at hitting giant orbiting rocks with small metal objects than the europeans?

Yep still no sign of Beagle 2, however I don't think that should put the dampers on anyone being happy and congratulating NASA on their success this morning. Well done. Splendid effort.

:D

No. It's still on Earth- at Heathrow.
The name "Beagle" turned up in a Martian Homeland Security check and they wouldn't allow a launch. Evidently some beagle shot down The Red Baron.
