I just went and saw 'March of the Penguins'. So who'd a thunk the best movie of the year would turn out to be a nature documentary about flightless birds?

It had it all; life, death, love, loss, danger, joy, triumph, harshness, tenderness, comedy, tragedy, some truly beautiful cinematography, cute baby penguins. And it makes you think about what a remarkable, fragile, and tenacious thing life really is. Have you ever seen a Hollywood blockbuster that you could say all that about?

So, yes, I liked it. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend that you do.

I'll third or fourth the recommendation. It's an excellent movie, beautifully photographed. Also, it doesn't try to downplay the rugged life these birds have. I've been to the Antarctic Penninsula and seen the appalling conditions even in the summer. If you'll pardon me, all penguins go to heaven, they deserve it.

I try to donate money to aid them regularly; when I can't, I at least try to volunteer my time. Most of them don't even have houses, and have never had a hot meal at all!
