The Free Muslims Against Terrorism are proud to announce that on May 14, 2005, Muslims and Middle Easterners of all backgrounds will converge on our nation?s Capital for a rally against terrorism and to support freedom and democracy in the Middle East and the Muslim world. This will be the first rally of its kind in Washington, D.C., that is led by Muslims and Middle Easterners.

Join us in sending a message to radical Muslims and supporters of terrorism that we reject them and that we will do all we can to defeat them.

We also want to send a message of hope to the people of the Muslim world and the Middle East who seek freedom, democracy and who reject radical Islam that we are with them and that we will do all we can to support them.

Unfortunately I son't be anywhere nead D.C. at that time, but I wish them well and hope they have a good showing for their demonstration.

I hate to say it, but I can't think of a more tempting target for car bombers on either side of the issue.

There are car bombers on both sides of this issue?

There are only two sides?

When was the last car bombing in the US? Oklahoma city??

Anyhoo this is going to be a flop. Can you imagine thousands of muslims in DC!!! Theyll never get thru airport security!!! HA HA. Youthink anyone is going to let a dozen or so muslims on a single plane. ?? Thats fying to DC?!!!!

I sure hope the Daily Show is covering this!

They need to hold the March in a right-to-carry state. Nothing puts off would be evil doers like the sight of a bunch people wearing black vests during warm weather.

Does this mean that you recognise there are innocent Muslims in the world ?

Hallellulja.

Actually, Mycroft always claimed that. Mycroft's view is that it is Muslim GOVERNMENTS which are mainly to blame. Consider the Palestinians as a group on the one hand and the Palestinian Authority (nee PLO) on the other. There are differences between the Palestinians about their views considering israel. Some of them want peace. Some of them a war of annihilation.

If there was democracy in the PA, then one could see what they really want, and try to effect it in reasonable ways. But the PA, being a corrupt organization of street thugs of various levels of lethality, cannot afford to engage in anything like democracy (in the sense of a free society with dissenting views, as opposed to fear-based sham elections.)

Nothing but genocidal hatered and brainwashing would do, since that's the only way they can keep power: showing themselves as the most violent killers of jews, and therefore the only ones who "deserve" to rule.

The same of course could be said with most (not all) other Muslim/Arab governments.

:D :D :D :D :D

Can you imagine the lines at the airports?

In spite of the fact that I think it's a good show of innocent Muslim solidarity, I don't think it will work.

They don't quite have the idea of piling behind an icon to motivate their cause. What they really need is a ribbon! Don't they know the importance Americans place on colored ribbons? Let's see yellow is taken (returning our troops), purple is taken (it's curing breast cancer), black is taken (no more blood for oil), blue is taken (for the best chicken at the county fair) . . . hmmmm. It's going to have to be an Orange florescent I think!

I think it's a matter of opinion if "full of" means every last person or merely many of the people.

If I say, "The United States is full of business owners" it doesn't mean that every citizen of the US owns a business, but it does mean there are a lot of people who do. In the same way, saying the Palestinian people are full of genocidal hate for the Jews means that a lot of them are, not that all of them are.

Which makes it a completely accurate statement. Far more accurate than ascribing the feeling to a handful of "bad apples."

I'm going to try to go have a look - can't promise anything, but maybe I'll have some pictures.

That would be great, I hope it's not disapointing.

I'm not a native English people, but I read "the entire palistinian people" as meaning the entire palistinian people. And my dictionary defines entire to be a synoun of "whole".

Does Sharon deserve to rule by showing himself to be the most violent bulldozer of the homes of innocent people?

How do you defeat terrorists by terrorising innocent people?

E.J., it looks like you missed this discussion.

Ignoting the liguistic trick you use--equating bulldozing of empty homes, whether justified or not, with the blowing up of buses full of civilians--it is possible to defeat terrorism by terrorising the terrorist, in the same way you defeat kidnappers by moving them against their will in a place called "prison", or defeat murderers by executing them, or defeat nations who used armies in war by using your own armies against them. There is nothing inherently absurd about this.
