Former member of We Are Change Manny Badilo, who is awaiting trial on charges of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, posted this on Facebook about the Mythbusters refusal to cover 9/11 myths. Also see this article which he linked to,

"If you look at nothing else about 9/11, hear what educators are saying today about that fateful day and ask yourself why no one else, including Myth busters, will teach us the new and improved political math. It is sickening to think that Americans are so afraid or too mindless to look at the facts without lifting a finger, middle or otherwise, to do something about the current state of politics on both sides of the fence."
I like this comment left on the post by someone identifying himself as Joe the Philosopher, website, youtube
Don't worry, Manny, they're probably government fronts. Or complete idiots. Nothing is going to stop the 9/11 Truth Movement until those responsible are standing on the gallows.

I think you forgot to quote Manny's post on Facebook.

Yep, Mythbusters don't even allow posts debunking 9/11 Truth. (Probably because truther losers have too much time on their hands and outpost normal people.) I tried that years ago, when a no-planer was spamming the web with a lie that Mythbusters were planning to build a skyscraper and test truther theories.

I believe the the Mythbusters have commented on doing 9/11 stuff and basically said that they don't want to get involved with it because there's nothing there to bust. Fire will soften steel? Confirmed! Airplane crashes cause fires? Confirmed! Offices are filled with fuel for fires? Confirmed! Firemen running up 70+ flights of stairs carrying 50lbs of gear will take at least an hour? Confirmed!

It would make for a boring show and just attract the loons that they don't want to deal with.

Manny didn't actually say anything. He just posted the link and left it for others to make creative remarks.

A surprising number of Truthers have Mythbusters listed on their Facebook TV favorites. I think some of them see MB as scientific critics in the same tradition as conspiracy theory.

Yeah, truthers, the Mythbuster folks are superior authorities to the FEMA engineers, the Purdue engineers, the Worcester Polytechnic researchers, Exponent Scientific and Engineering consultants, Weidlinger Associates, the UC Davis DELTA group, and of course all the contributors to the NIST report...

And do we want to extend out past the towers on to other conspiracy fantasies, like the ones involving the planes and such? Just look here at the individuals and organizations that have rendered professional conclusions on thoses other myths: http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/military/news/debunking-911-myths-sources

As much as I like Mythbusters, the fact that someone believes gonzo engineering done for entertainment would somehow even be a peer to careful analysis done by multiple academic and business engineering groups - such as the ones named above, all of whom contributed studies on the very subject of the towers collapses - or also professionals in the aviation, defense, and entirely separate air crash fields - is just laughable. That shows you just how utterly superficial and benighted the truther mindset is on what constitutes good argument. Again, I like the gang, but Adam and Jamie blowing **** up is not even close to being as rigorous as careful analyses done to professionally and academically established standards.

This is why they fail. They don't understand what real, rigorous analysis is, choosing instead to believe that ersatz research is somehow comparable to the real thing.

LOL

Scott, that's priceless: The "CENSORED!" stamp at 1:33 coming down exactly where the truthers have in fact censored the video! :D

I wonder if one of the reasons Mythbusters don't do this is also the emotion behind the event. They've never done the science of plane crashes, ships sinking etc. They generally keep the show light, informative when it comes to quirky science.

That formula has worked well for 9 seasons, from a purely financial and entertainment point of view, dont change whats not broke. Mythbusters is about exploring science, explaining science.....not defending it

I agree but to be fair, the did defend the Moon landings and they simulated a corpse with a pig carcass sealed in a car for several months (IIRC). Scaling, budget, and time constraints (for construction) are the big problems with busting the 911 myths.

With reference to the Moon landings, we have to consider many people don't understand how it was done, how much it was seat of the pants stuff.

Looking back with our modern technology I wonder how the hell they got away with it - And I was alive at the time lol

Adam and Jamie have said, many times, that they don't like doing "oogie-boogie" myths. Waste of time.

Truther idiocy falls squarely into this category.

From the source of all true things,
There are some myths the MythBusters refuse to test. Paranormal concepts, such as aliens or ghosts, are not addressed because they cannot be tested by scientific methods, although one exception, pyramid power, prompted Adam to comment, "No more 'oogie-boogie' myths, please" and state at a tour show in Indianapolis in 2012 that it was a mistake

And from the home all knowledge that is worth knowing,

Well, the Hindenburg disaster took place over 70 years ago and killed dozens. 9/11 is only just over a decade old and killed thousands, something Mythbusters and Discovery will be aware of. This is the emotional context they may be wary of, quite as much as the physical elements.

As for Scott's example of Truther deceit - colour me non-surprised.

I stand corrected :(

With just those three simple words you managed to write something smarter, braver and pithier than 90% of everything written on the internet today. I'd say that calls for one of these:)...or at least one of these;)

Mythbusters on 9/11 and CTs

This is quite recent (March 24th, 2012), at the Reason Rally.

The money quote is at 5:00

Thanks very much for that, Dave. I hadn't had a chance to watch that yet. A brilliant speech.
